For anyone who cares, I use this same backhand side stroke against chops.
Normally it's hard to do a totally horizontal stroke against top spin -- but when they use backspin, their spin helps keep the ball down and I'm really able to RIP it hard! Using it now and then, even against pushes, throws off opponents something fierce! I start with the paddle (for right handers) way off on the right side of my body. Almost as far over to the right as if you were going to do a forehand loop - then swing it across. Brings a tear to my eye seeing these shots in play
