Dear everyone,
Right now, I am using a cleaning sponge by Nittaku. I notice, however, when I clean with it often, the sponge gets dirtier and dirtier. What do you guys usually do when this happens? Because I now feel like I just put on the dirt that it has cleaned off yesterday. Thanks!

no offense...but what type of response were you looking for? There is no magic sponge cleaner or super duper Chinese national team way to clean it......
Also, with rubber cleaning sponges.....there are many different types...but some are not good at all to use actually. The soft synthetic blue Chinese types are the best ones. Dont go for any that are foam porous types. Post up a pic or link of the one you have. |

I have had the Yasaka Fukuda rubber wiper for years now and i clean my rubbers once at the end of the training session (usually once a week). It held up pretty well with minimal tearing. Its black but when it gets dirty i rinse it under tap water.
I also use Donic BioClean to clean my rubbers if that helps too.

I used to use a microfiber cloth and water (before I went to full time hardbat). When the microfiber cloth got dirty, I washed it. Simple. If I were using sponge, I'd also try washing it in a mild detergent such as Woolite and then rinsing it thoroughly with water. If that doesn't work, then yes, buy a new sponge. |

But you just gave me an idea for a great scam. Introducing: Triple Ecstasy National Version Rubber Cleaner (with our patented super-water). For sale. For $500. For a bottle previously owned by Zhang Jike. |

You would be better off using the hard side as it would be much less abrasive even if you use foam or liquid cleaner, compared to the porous foam side. These are the worse kind to use.....they are a little abrasive. Those are just like the Butterfly ones and other various labeled tt companies with 2 different sides. The best are the synthetic soft sponge types. Yinhe/Galaxy always had them in the past...now you can find various Chinese companies named on them..usually you can find them at eacheng.com i recall. I don't understand why people seem to be obsessed with cleaning their rubbers with special sponges or even cleaning solutions. It doesn't make a difference at all...just use breathe moisture and wipe the rubber on your shorts (assuming you wash your table tennis shorts).

For me damp leather chamois (Kanebo or 3M) works very well. When it gets dirty I just wash it with a bit of liquid soap.

Yeah - with my Dr. Evil, I simply wipe them on my wet shirt and "squeegee" them dry on my shorts.

Natural sponges get dirtier and dirtier so the sponges need to be replaced at least once per week. If you use sponges to clean super dirty place, you may need to replace it after use immediately. There is no way to clean sponges thoroughly as well as make the sponges look like a new one. Other types of sponges like silicone sponge which won't absorb water and dirt liquid might be easier to clean than natural sponges.

I can't find the meaning of the rubber cleaners myself. This is the best way to clean the rubbers as MLfan mentioned it. If you don't believe it, just watch a full pro match. If it is would making any difference the pro players would of use it too. The rubbers are getting dirty very quickly, there is no way going to the side - get your rubber cleaner kit out and just clean it every 6 points doing the match. I watch some high lever table tennis and I never seen anybody clean there rubbers like that. I don't think it will add life to your rubber too.

It makes sense to clean with some sort of cleaning solution (tt brand or not) because if you are like me that sweats heavily, it gets all over the rubber. Sweat contains salts that can dry on the rubber and leave gross residue, that stuff wont really come off by just breathing on the rubber. Having said that, I only clean my rubbers with tt cleaning solution at the end of my training/playing sessions. In between points, I just wipe my racket on my shorts.... Not going to run to my bag to grab a spray and sponge to clean my racket... that would be absurd

I have two different old cleaning (voc) sprays. They clean the surface much better than any of the new ones I've tried so far. I wish I can find and buy some of those old ones
