Great idea, pilgrim.
Mizuno Wave Medal 5 US Size: 9.5 US Weight: 278g These shoes notoriously run 1 size too large: sizewise, they are similar to Butterfly size 10.5 US for me I'll post some other shoes weights when I get a chance.

Butterfly Energy Force X: US Size 9.5, 267g
Mizuno Wave Drive 7: US Size 10, 290g Asics Gel Rocket 7: US Size 10.5, 348g All of them fit the same leg well (so, even though they seem different sizes, they are really the same fit). The Mizuno WD7 is probably a touch larger.

This is a great thread. We should have it sticky like the rubber weight thread so when someone is interested in shoe weight they can refer to this.
Can we keep a standard format as well? Model: Brand and model name. Size: Don't forget to mention the size country, not just the number. Weight: In grams. Fit: How they fit? i.e. They run 1/2 size small or large, etc. Thank you!

I may understand the difference in number size, but why would the 27cm of Medal 5 be larger than the 27cm of Asics Blade 4. I feel so f**ked up Edited by Kolev - 04/30/2017 at 5:31am |

I'll put my WM5's on the scales later
But as for sizing, I have the 28.5 [CM's], which typically corresponds to 10.5 US. I wear Nike US 10.5 [28.5]. Any time i've borrowed my dad's US11 running shoes [multiple brands], they feel far too large. The WM5 fits very slightly snugly, but not nearly as big as a nike / asics running shoe US 11. So i'd be careful ordering a full size down - best to try some on 1st. I don't think i can wear 28.0 WM5's, the WM5's would for example, probably be perfect if they were 28.3 or something for me. So like 1/5th a size too big [which isn't important and barely noticeable] - i'm just trying to demonstrate that for one person they run a size too big, for me they are maybe 1/5th a size too big at best, so order carefully! Should'nt you guys be listing the Mizuno shoes as the asian sizing (cm).....ie 28.5 for 10.5 US. This will help those looking at sites with only the manufactures printed size which is normally the 28.5 on re sellers websites.
So if some of the newer Mizuno's have a departure from normal Mizuno sizing....you also may want to create a separate list for the shoes that are not normal sizing compared to others in the same brand. |

The hardest thing about buying TT shoes online is the sizing. Then of course, even if they fit, they need to be suited for your feet and body. Once you find something that works well for you it is a good idea to buy several pairs if you can afford it, because companies love to discontinue the model and bring out something else a year later and then you have to start all over again. (And depending on the company, there is no guarantee that the sizing will remain consistent with the last model, although that is probably less of an issue with Asics and Mizuno). If you are tall and wear sizes above 10.5 be sure to check out German websites like spinfactory and contra.de. They have good selections in larger sizes.

its hard to try tt shoes that are shipped from europe/asia here to US, if they dont fit return shipping costs almost as much as half the price of the shoes, maybe even more. I guess this is why many folks turn to asics gel court shoes since they are widely available here in US stores.

True. I think they're not quite optimal for TT. But they will at least fit!

I've given up on trying to find "proper" table tennis shoes in size 13+. Found that indoor soccer shoes with yellow rubber soles are the best substitute for me - eg this is very similar to what I currently wear:
adidas 16.3. They are super light, don't slip and not expensive. Shoe weight is 275 g, size 13.5 US. Edited by shaibu - 04/30/2017 at 10:18pm |
