I'm new to the forum (and just getting back to TT). Earlier today I posted http://mytabletennis.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=79662&PN=1#988086 on the same subject.

Am glad to see it's not just me who thinks this practice is deplorable.

Now then, what are the chances of it ever changing?

One of my regular opponents has a serve that lands about three inches from his side of the net, then lands about three inches on my side of the net, all the while spinning like crazy.

It's hard enough to return without also wondering about the table's bounce being consistent.
