I dunno, I reckon I'd be keen. I do use 41 degree globe 999, and I've yet to pick up a rubber and didn't think "Oh this is nice and soft"

A guy named Lee91 who posted either here or at TTD mentioned it.  He plays at the club in Korea that is basically owned by Nexy.  He said that Karis H was actually made at ESN, even though it follows the same principles that make it linear.  He also said that Nexy had not planned to market it outside of Korea.  Give me a few minutes and I will try to find the thread.

Edit added.  Obviously I am reading challenged, since the two posts I just linked here are not about Karis H.

Nexy Korea has let me know Karis H is ready for the market and NexyUSA.com intends to stock it. I am making an order this weekend for Karis H and the new shoes.

Actually, my last post is completely wrong!  I remembered wrong.  My thinking that this rubber was not made in Japan was not about Karis H at all.  Instead it was about something from Tibhar called MX-K, which is a collaboration between Nexy and Tibhar to make a Karis-like rubber with an ESN sponge and a Japanese topsheet with Karis-like pip structure.  And that is the rubber they had only planned to market in Korea.

Sorry about my confusion.

(By the way, this MX-K sounds really interesting).

Anyway, NL, I am happy with Karis M, but let us know what the H version is like.  I didn't like M+, so this sounds even like more of the same, so I will wait for you.

Yeah, it's basically to round things out.   I don't boost so sponges over 47 degrees in Euro hardness are too hard for me.

Now that is interesting.

I am testing Karis M and M+ and vastly prefer the M+ version.  I might like the H even more.

The regular M jus tplays too soft despite the fact that I use a pretty hard blade.

Apparently, i can not order directly from Nexy to a California address (it says no shipper available), so I guess I'll wait until NexyUSA has it.

Sounds nice, my current FH is the M+ which is a nice medium rubber, not hard at all, i like how controllable it is compared to tensors, being control the aspect i focus on.

A little more speed would be awesome.

Ilya, I initially felt the same way about Karis M. Yet, after using it a few days, I realized that regular Karis M was a BEAST vs incoming topspin. I could land many more shots vs incoming topsin, I wasn't afraid to counter or take a step back and loop it back. The loops were not insane overpowering (like MX-P), but I consistently got back many more shots than I did when I used MX-P. Those shots were still pressure shots that won points or led to it on the next shot (or two).

ILya, (and anyone interested) I have a batch of Karis H just arrived from Korea. I am temporarily away from my place and haven't put it on the NexyUSA.com website. You (or anyone) can PM me before I get it on the website. I should be able to be back for a day Monday to get more. I have 2 sheets of each color in both colors 2.1 sponge with me until I get back to my place in Sac, CA.

I set up two blades. Both with MX-S on the FH. One has Karis M on the BH another M+.

I'll keep alternating between them and see how they work as I get more used to the top sheet.

Generally, I am making a lot of spin with both and both counterloop well off the table. However M+ gives me a more direct feel and works better over the table so far.

I have come to like M+ on my slower blade (LISSOM ALL+) and I can like M or M+ on faster blades. M+ handles topspin like a pro, but M can really keep it on the table... I have learned to value that as it keeps me in more points and gives me chances to win them. (If I don't piss away the point with a dumb shot or decision to strongly attack when off balance or out of zone.)

Before, I would dismiss a slower rubber, I demanded minimum speed, but I can still hit hard with M, but just not to the degree with a faster rubber, but my results are as good or better. (than with the faster rubber I used)

I spent a couple of hours practicing with Karis H on my FH on an old Butterfly Mazunov blade.  I am going through my yearly burst of EJ-ism, so I was also trying new Nittaku Hammond Power on the BH.

I have two other rackets set-up for comparison purposes, both are old Mazunov blades with Tibhar MX-S on the FH (that has been my regular FH rubber since it came out).  One has Karis M on the BH and another Karis M+.

After gluing the Karis H to my Mazunov, the first thing I noticed that to the touch it felt hard as a rock, very reminiscent of how my 40deg H2 Neo felt.  I like hard rubber, so that was a good start, but also a something to be mindful of.  When I played with H2 Neo, I was using a softer blade.

In practice, Karis H plays a little softer than it feels to the touch, same as the other Karis rubbers.  They use the same topsheet which feels hard to to the touch, but is still very supple, so it grabs the ball well and give it a little more dwell time than you would expect.

If I were to guess how hard the Karis H sponge is in ESN nomenclature, I would guess right around 50-51 degrees.

During practice, we went through the whole repertoire of shots to see how it does and it does everything well.  Power looping is exceptional, so is serving.  The topsheet has loads of spin potential.  For the way I play (I like short crisp ball contact), this is the second best serving rubber I have ever tried (one of the Victas VS rubbers was better), but not by much.  I think as I play with it, it will get better.  Spin variationwas effortless and when I wanted the ball loaded with spin, it was.  One of my go to serves is the the very basic half-long underspin serve.  It was very easy to control depth and get the second bounce almost to the white line, while generating enough spin for the ball to stay on the table for the third bounce and then head back toward the net.

Short game was exceptional.  Now, I mostly used it on the FH and my FH flip is not exactly a thing of beauty.  Karis H did not make it better.  Or worse.  It stank the way it always does.  My FH short game is mostly made up of drop shots pushes and an occasional sidespin slide.  All of those were excellent with Karis H.  It is not very sensitive to incoming spin, so keeping the ball lwo and short was easy.  Loading up a push with spin was pretty comfortable as well.

Same for blocking: unless I did somehting fundamentally stupid, blocks went back to the opponent's side of the table with boring regularity.

Power loops were spectacular: they had the H2 trajectory where the ball goes straight, then dips down at the last moment and bounces low.

Slow and spinny loops require a little more touch since the rubber is very hard and that is where you have to make sure you are making nice brushing contact, same as you would with a hard Chinese rubber.  Except it is a lot more forgiving than a hard Chinese rubber.

I did not do too much counterlooping with it, so I will have to experiment with that during next practice.

I will keep playing Karis H for a bit and see how I like it.  So far, it seems to fit me adequately well, but I am not going to make this permanent until I have spent a couple of months playing with it.
