Which is the current available blade closest to old Iolite in terms of speed and touch? And most important, there must be a Cpen version.
Actually I´m using a Iolite which I turned into Cpen. I like it very much except for its small headsize. So I´m looking for something similar (fast, no vibration and not so hard touch) with a proper Cpen headzise (160+mm x 150mm).

Is it still available? I believe it has been discontinued. You see used ones here periodically. |

Garaydia ALC - or actually, Garaydia Revolver.
Just noticed that the Revolver is JPen. Well, this is what you can look at. Amultart and Taksim seem closest. http://www.butterflyonline.com/Templates/BladeSpecifications.pdf Edited by NextLevel - 06/19/2017 at 7:44am |

Actually I´ve already had a Taksim, but found it harder than Iolite. I believe Amultart is even harder.

Taksim has nothing to do with Iolite. Taksim is hard, with vibrations and medium fast. Iolite is softer, much faster and stiff as a brick. I believe some of the Galaxy blades is an Iolite clone. Your Iolite cpen is not suitable for the new rubbish ball as it has little flex and is too fast. You won't be able to spin the ball. |

BTY TB ALC CS is your best bet but man, the penhold version has a high mark-up. Galaxy/Yinhe V-14 and V-16 look promising as well if you want something less expensive.

You should try donic ovtcharov carbospeed. It feels soft, stiff and is lightning fast. It has proper cpen headsize, comparable to yasaka cpens

I like its specification but headsize is still small, 157x150mm, just like a regular shakehand blade...

Good call. A friend of mine plays shakehand with a Carbospeed. I will try to borrow it to check speed and softness.

I decided to go with Donic Ovtcharov Carbospeed. It has same wood plies of Iolite, except for the carbon ply (which is Arylate-Carbon in Iolite). And thickness is almost the same.
Maybe it is a bit harder than Iolite, but I´m also changing rubber so I believe it will be a good choice.

Updating... I´ve just tried Ovtcharov Carbospeed Cpen.
Overall I´m satisfied, blade is quite fast and stiff, just like Iolite. But has a different "touch". While Iolite is soft Carbospeed showed a harder touch. I found it very much like Primorac Carbon, fast and hard. It is good to active block and smash, or counter-smash topspins. Didn´t like to flip with it, 7 plies are much better to do this. I will keep playing with it while still looking for a Iolite clone in Cpen version...
