I saw this on sale at TT11. What is the difference between the old Degu II and the new Degu II? Why didn't they just call it Degu III????

In that case, Degu III would actually be the better name, with the 2nd version being defensive...

Clearly it's not. Read the description. It's talking about how defensive it is.

You can read up on this on the TTDD website, an online store in Germany which owns the Spinlord brand:
https://www.ttdd.de/SpinLordkurzenoppen.html
On the websites it states that the new Degu II version uses a Japanese sponge instead of the Chinese sponge as for the old version but with the same hardness. The advantage is that the Japanese sponge allows to generate more spin in particular underspin. They recommend the thin sponge version for modern defenders and the thicker versions for a counter/block type game. I don't see that they still offer the old version on the website anymore.

Interesting. I think the old one maxed out at 1.5 sponge. I see that they have 1.8 now as well.

Probably because they don't seem to be producing the old version of Degu 2 anymore.

Looking at his nickname and the number of posts (1), bongbanvietnam1 has specifically registered to promote his shop. Could as well make it usable for the rest of the audience, too - just saying...
