For the Oly, word is teams cannot add more members, which means, probably, mix partners would be coming out of the 3 each M/W teams. Wonder if Harimoto would make it to the requisite by end of 2019, when the Oly teams are decided. Would be very interesting how things shake out next couple of years. I hope they realize that a Doubles partnership cannot be thrown together haphazardly, which they seemed to be doing so far with the women's (Japan).
The JTTA has announced the selection criteria for the 2018 WTTC TEAM event. 1) instead of the top 2 WR, only the top will be chosen. 2) 2018 All Japan Champion 3) winner of the internal JTTA 'go-direct' Qualifier tournament 4) winner against top 3 Chinese players in WTTC/ WC/Continental/Opens competitions in 2017. 5) winner of at least 6 competitions against WR top 30 players in 2017, best results 6) if five cannot be assembled as per above, JTTA recommendation based on best results/ potential to win since Jan 2017.

I'm not seeing muscles, more like regaining baby fat - kidding, may be increasing in size also improves BH/FH blocking - more kidding ! I'm terrible, mea culpa...
Ito Mima is the one that really shows her efforts in strengthening herself. She has taken to boxing to improve her hitting power(there's a Japanese video of that on YouTube), changed her blade and now uses Chinese rubber, and her legs now look like mini pilings.

Actually, mix pair shall be the player who don't play single. BTW, we all know who will be in the JNT wttc team already.

Some statistics from China - Kill rates ( win/total matches against CHINESE players)
Ito Mima - 11/45,24.44%
Fukuhara Ai - 29/149,19.46%
Hirano Miu - 7/52,13.46%
Ishikawa Kasumi - 9/73,12.32%

Ito so far had taken down 4 out of the 5 women, over a period of time, which played for the Jiangsu Province team in the 2017 CNG (except Zhang Qiang). ;-p

For Austria Open, except Chen Meng, all other Chinese female players are ranked below Ishikawa and Hirano.

As to "Ishikawa and Hirano have the opportunity to improve this statistics", it may very well turn out to be the opposite.  (For example, the much lower ITTF ranked Gu Yuting beat Hirano Miu twice this year.)

*** Btw, in Ratings Central, Gu Yuting is ranked higher than Ishikawa and Hirano. ***

Read it carefully, not any cnt "bottom of the barrel" player; don't believe ito, Ishikawa or Fukuhara can beat any top cnt player 3 times before the end of this year. If I were JNT player, I would be mad LOL

My thoughts exactly, this stipulation (2017) read almost custom made for only 1 person to get in. Wonder when the cut off date for this criteria is? I mean wouldn't it be funny if Hirano surpasses Ishikawa in WR, and takes the 2018 All Japan Champ again...then what ?

My opinion is the second option is more likely ....It would be correct to write - "improve" ....

... if Hirano surpasses Ishikawa in WR....

....In November, December 2017 and January 2018, these players (excluding the SUN Yingsha , WANG Manyu) will have large deductions for expired bonuses for November, December 2016 and January 2017.
Ishikawa-0+36+36=72
Hirano-54+0+56=110
Ito-30+48+36=114
F.T.-42+0+24+66
H.Y.-20+24+48=92
C.I.C-48+40+30=118 (+25 penalty points !!!)

This is a tangible loss in the rating ....
A serious tournament is a little left until the end of the year ....

A bit off topic...

Mima Ito & Hina Hayata have been added to the recipients of funding from the Japan Sports Council. Up to 10 millions yens per person is available (equiv to US$90,000).

Just to fill everybody in, Ishikawa and Hirano will play in the upcoming CTTSL.

Ito, OTOH, will play in 甲A(literally AA), the second tier of the league.

Hayata, well, will continue to "compete" at the T2APAC.

ya, Mima Ito and Hina Hayata are good players, but they will be hard to land a regular spot in any CTTSL team. hmm, if I were Hayata, I would train at china training centre instead of playing at the T2APAC.

Ishikawa and Hirano are highly ranked female players, they have no problem to get hired,
if they want to play in the CTTSL.
------------------------------------

Does one have to be hired by a team first before one can play in the CTTSL?
Not any player can play in the CTTSL, one has to be good enough to be hired by a team first.
Then a contract is signed between the team and the player specifying the compensation.

That's what I think, I just don't know.
Hope someone can answer.

The player will get paid.

Zhu Yuling now beat Hirano Miu in this Asian Cup.

Earlier Hirano beat Ding Ning, Chen Meng and Zhu Yuling in Asian Championships,
now all 3 top Chinese players have played and beaten Hirano.

Hirano just can not repeat her shocking success.
She is young, time is on her side.
