Hi, just wanted to open a US Open thread...
Does anyone have any ideas when the entry or any information of the US Open will come out?
maybe Gordy might know.
This will also be a good thread if people have any questions about the event.  I expect it to be a very good tournament as usual. Thanks!

I'm happy Doubles are back. I just wish they did not have two Doubles events at the same time.

I have a similar problem. I hope they will change things up and consider the typical 1400-1800 player more.

It looks like they are front loading most events to Sunday to Wednesday. Lets people go home on Thursday for xmas...fair enough.

It looks like the cut back on the number of events.  It looks like there is only 66 events (down from about 90+).  It could be because of the missing para events.  15 hardbat/sandpaper events.

So perhaps the schedule on that PDF is just missing some.

I was hoping that the Super RR event would have been at 2100 instead of 2000.

Are the rating events RR or SE (e.g., U2100, U2250, U2400, U2600, U2700) ?

According to the instructions, unless marked, events are SE. This would seem to suggest they are SE, which I find hard to believe.

Even the lower rated events are not RR.  I can't believe they would do that.  If that's the case I may skip many events or stay home.  I have a lot of trouble justifying spending that much time and money for very few matches.

Just checked with the boss and he said that the rated events are all RR.

I didn't ask about specific events, but he said that they were all RR's.

If so, that's nice - signing up for SE event (admittedly much higher than my rating) and only getting a single game was somewhat disappointing, when you are trying to get as much TT as possible out of your trip to Vegas Wink.

Woo Hoo!  They brought back all the rated doubles events.  You'll recall that in July that dropped a couple of the rated doubles events (2700/3700 I believe). That was a sore point for some of us.

Ladies and Gents:

All rated events below 2400 are RR. There are also two Super RR (1650 and 1200, I believe) that have 5 in a group with 2 advancing. Those are the two "open" events below 2000 (the rest are all split between adults and juniors.

Benfb - I know it was a sore point :) I hope all of you also consider playing the team event. I know many did not at Nationals, but those that did (including me) had a great time and had the chance to play a ton of matches with good friends.

Just a thought.

I don't understand the team event. How do I find a team? What do I need for a team?

Obviously I did not do much research but I check my emails and it hasn't been spoon fed for me (probably others) enough yet.

if the format is same as nationals every 10 teams is a division split into 2 groups of 5 with RR format. You can have 2 or 3 people in your team. Play is singles, singkes, doubles and singles again if necessary. A two person team is gonna play at least 8 matches, could be up to 15 if you were to win your RR group to play in the crossover final.
