Who knows something about Kenny Style veneer composition ?
I got one and don't know anything about that blade. Mine comes with FL handle and the thickness of the blade is around 6,0 mm. It has a big size blade. Thats all I know. Thanky you for every information about this blade with flared handle. |

I've never seen a flared one, are you sure it's a Kenny Style? Do you have a picture?

Never seen FL "style" Butterfly blade with painted in black handle.
Even American Style is more conic than FL but never black painted. Swedish style is different, French style is ST and Kenny Style is ST too. But I have seen in the past some Hanno or Nittaku or TSP also black painted handles, hope someone can make more clearer that mystery. How many grams is the blade? |

It has 91 gr.
I have seen many Butterfly Kenny style but everytime with a ST handle. This is really special to find one with FL handle. What about the veneers ? |

I believe it is basswood or something. Google should have something on it.

Kenny style does not exist with FL handl, only with ST.
This should be a firehand style. |

Kakapo, you may be correct. I used to have a Butterfly brochure from 1963 detailing some of the blades that BTY sold at that time--the Kenny Style, the English Style, the French Style, the Czech Style, and the American (New York Style).
The Kenny Style racket came affixed with BTY D-13 inverted rubber. It was not a large headed blade, as the inverted rubber affixed to it would have made the racket head heavy. By today's standards it might be rated as ALL. I have no idea who Kenny was. All the Kenny Style rackets I ever saw came with black painted straight handles. A sporting goods store across the street from the Ohio State University Student Union, Agler-Davidson, sold Kenny Style, English Style, and French Style blades, all affixed with BTY D-13, in the early 1970s.

This all jibes with my recollection. I played with Cor du Buy and Stiga blades back then, Butterfly blade felt too hard for my game. Never saw a flared Kenny, that would be rare.

Now it is clear for me. This blade is Butterfly Firehand Style with FLared handle.
Thickness around 6,0 mm. , blade size 160x155 mm. 91 gr.. All 5 veneers seems to be Hinoki. Outer is Hinoki and center also rather sure, but under the top veneer could be different. I will try out this blade to become some impressions and then let's see... |

Under the Hinoki top veneer it could be Koto or Limba.

I don't think so, Butterfly blades from that period (early 80) never had Koto or Limba inside. Stiga used a lot of limba at that time while Butterfly used Hinoki or basswood most of the time. Koto in the inner plies, I know the Oh Sang Eun but it came 20 years after the firehand style....
