Any good suggestions for a LP blocking backhand and forehand smashing style? Do any of the over-sized defensive blades like Koji Matushita Offensive work for this way of playing?
Or, what in the current crop of blades is good for forehand smashing and backhand blocking/pushing? Balsa? Carbon?

Rigid (stable) blades are good for both LP blocking/pushing and for smashing. You can get this from a thicker balsa blades (should not be too fast with decent braking effect or blocking with LP becomes hard), or a composite blades.
Koji Matushita blades might work with the right kind of rubbers, but are probably designed more for choppers/loopers. Sauer & Trogel or Re-impact are designed for this style, but there's many other too. The tricky bit is always finding a compromise between with LP on the one side, and the inverted on the other. |

It's probably too fast for blocking loops close in, especially if the pimple is OX (no sponge).
The blade must be made in Europe, not Japan, so Butterfly Japan probably does not have control over it. |
