    Posted: 01/03/2018 at 1:35pm

I have compiled a list of rubbers that I know of so far that have a speedglue effect sponge with the caveat that they are 1.6mm or thinner. As one can imagine, most of them are pips.

What are some others?
The conditions are as follows:
- MUST be 1.6mm or thinner. 1.7mm+ does not count.
- The sponge needs to have a speedglue effect built in without any consumer-end tuning or alteration of any kind
- Rubbers that have "High Tension" or related marketing terms do not count if the sponge itself does not have a built in speedglue effect. For example, Butterfly Feint AG is available in 1.3mm and has "High Tension" but this does not count as the sponge itself does not have a built in speedglue effect
- All rubber types are allowed, both inverted and pips of any length.

My current list so far:

Andro

Rasant Chaos – 0.5, 1.2

Der Materialspezialist

Burnout – 1.5

Hardcore – 1.5

Hardcore Speed – 1.5

Outkill – 1.5

Donic

Bluefire Big Slam - 1.6

Nittaku

Factive - 1.4

Fastarc C-1 - 1.4

Fastarc G-1 - 1.4

Fastarc P-1 - 1.4

Fastarc S-1 - 1.4

Sauer Tröger

Hass – 1.5

SpinLord

Degu - 1.5

Gipfelsturm - 1.5, 1.2

Keiler - 1.5, 1.2

Waran - 1.5

Tibhar

Grass D.Tecs – 0.5, 0.9, 1.2, 1.6

Speedy Soft D.Tecs – 1.5

Speedy Soft XD - 1.5

TSP

Spectol Red/Blue - 1.4-1.7 (1.5)

Spinpips Red/Blue - 1.4-1.7 (1.5)

Victas

VO 101 – 1.6

bbkon, I haven't used any of those 3 rubbers. I didn't even include Zargus on the list because it seems to be a more control type rubber. Hass seems to be a very fast rubber however compared to Zargus so I included it on the list.

Good idea to make a list, I'm always keeping an eye out for those types of rubbers too.
Here are 2 more that come to mind:

Donic Bluefire Big Slam 1.6mm
Xiom Yanus DF 1.5mm

I'm a little surprised by some of the rubbers on your list, I thought they were Chinese-made and tuned, which don't feel like 'glue effect' rubbers like Tensors do, but I would agree there is certainly some effect.

Added those 2 to the list.

To which rubbers are you referring? If I had to guess, you might be talking about the pip specialist companies like SpinLord, Der Materialspezialist, and Sauer Tröger.

Having tried SpinLord Waran quite extensively, even though it's technically made in China, you would never know it. The sponge is quite soft and the glue effect is quite permanent. Also, the quality of the rubber is top notch. I've purchased several Chinese rubbers from Chinese companies (especially non-DHS) and they always seem to have minor defects, even if only cosmetically. This was not the case with Waran and I imagine this is not the case with the other rubbers listed.

I thought if the rubber made with the speed glue effect, both thick version and thin version of this rubber will be the same with the speed glued sponge. What is the purpose to specifically list the rubbers of thin sponged? Sorry about the ignorance.

Yes that's exactly right. Big smile

Yes I agree the rubbers are usually high quality, but I still expected they had some boosting of some sort, I could be wrong. I had one of them delaminate, which is also evidence (not proof) of boosting.

I decided to make the list because they are relatively rare. Thick and thin sponged versions of a rubber are not the same. They have the potential to feel and play very differently.

If there even is any booster (I wouldn't be surprised if there is), that isn't necessarily indicative of there not also being a built in glue effect via its other properties. One could probably assume that most modern European tensors have some amount of booster in them but that doesn't mean that's the only reason for their glue effect. I think this is the case with the aforementioned rubbers. There MIGHT be some boosting done but the sponges will quickly plateau and remain at a similar speed, a similar glued feeling, and stay that way, for the entirety of its existence until the material begins to break down 10+ years later.

Both bbkon and I have stated the exact same thing about Waran. That's no coincidence. I honestly think these glue effect rubbers from SpinLord (and probably the 2 other companies that I haven't tried) are extremely underrated because they aren't a big brand and people are scared to buy them.

That's a fair point, you might well be right Thumbs Up

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see more glue effect rubbers from Chinese manufacturers, whether they're from a Chinese brand or other. I'm going to have a try Waran now... you just gave me the excuse I needed. EmbarrassedLOL

I'm actually going to be conducting a bit of an experiment. I'm in the possession of a sheet of TSP Curl P4 OX. The offensive capability of Curl P4 is well known but the main complaint is the sponge being so slow. I'm going to get a sheet of Waran with 1.5mm sponge, separate the topsheet, and combine the Waran sponge with the Curl P4 topsheet I have.

I dont think you can find a modern rubber at that price that can play and long lasting like an expensive pip, the topsheetsponge is pristine and top quality but some sheets are little bit harder

Sounds like my kind of experiment, can't wait to hear how it goes. Thumbs Up
