Very interesting tournament here, can anyone give a little insight into what it's about?

Dima against Li Xin Yang

Some very interesting results including a match featuring Thiago Monteiro vs a Penhold Long Pips Twiddler...

No, it is not a real match, it is a handicap match.

First game:  Li gets 2 points to start with. No coin toss, Li just gets to serve. Li won.
Second game:  Li gets 1 point. Li won.
Third game: Li gets nothing. Started out with 0-0.  Li lost.
Fourth game:  Li gets 1 point. Li won.

Li won the match 3-1.  But it is a handicap match, not a real match.
(Li is from Taipei, Taiwan.)

Dima lost a handicap match.  Dima did not lose a REAL match.

*** Even though it is a handicap match, the young player (Li) looks impressive.

Yes, Ovtcharov got beaten badly. The other match was much more interesting because of the long pips penholder.

Pretty cool dynamic handicapping system - I presume they are trying new things out.

Who is this Li Xin Yang guy that only needed 1 point handicap to defeat Dima?

Agree with you that Li Xin Yang is impressive - just need 1 point handicap to win.
===========

I think I have seen him playing in a match before, but don't remember the event.
His face is familiar to me.

Li Xin Yang played Dima.

The middle name seems to be different, may be due to translation from Chinese to English.
Any way, Li Xin Yang and Li Hsin Yang look like the same player.
(Both of them are from Taipei.)

Can anyone with better eyesight confirm it?
Are they two different players, or the same player.

Thank you very much for the confirmation.
Now we know Li Xin Yang or Li Hsin Yang is actually the same player.

This young player is very impressive, I believe that in 3 years he may be able to get into top 100.
That is, if he gets to play in the face of 6 players max.

Damned, I didn't know Mr Zhang was such a good player !!!
I have spoken with him many times through mails about material but I'm really impressed.
Not anybody can defeat Kreanga, Samara and Chen Weixing, even with a few handicap points !

Does it explain his connections in getting all the rare equipment he sells?

     ILLEGAL PIMPLES   Dawei 388D-1 Professional
http://www.eacheng.net/Dawei-388D-1-Quattro-allround-Long-Pips-Topsheet-OX-p11674.html    Professional version with lowered dynamic friction.
Chinese did circumvented all ITTF rules. They're now producing illegal pimples with zero dynamic traction (frictionless). Those "professional" pimples were never undergone approval trials by ITTF laboratory. Never.
