Are there any defensive blades more than 6mm thick and weighing 80 grams or less? I have the kim kyung ah blade... but it is discontinued and I haven't seen anything like it since.

Any blades more than 6mm thick and 80 grams or less in weight? Not really balsa based either as they have a different feel.

Without balsa, a 6mm thick over sized blade surely will weigh well more than 80 grams.  6mm or thicker w/o balsa would also make the blade stiff and not ideal for off the table chopping/looping.

I do have a KKA blade which I may consider parting for the right price.  If you are interested, please PM me.

I've been using a 79 gram Koji Matushita flared but it's 5mm thick. It's easily the slowest blade I've ever hit a ball with. The second slowest blade I've ever tried is the Defplay Classic and the Matushita Defensive is even slower than that.
Blade - Xiom 36.5 ALX FL
Forehand - Xiom Omega V Asia 2.0mm
Backhand - Victas Curl P5V with Der Materialspezialist Firestorm Soft/Outkill 1.8mm sponge

From what I understand, Andro Fibercomp is now using kiri instead of balsa. It's less than 80g and around 6mm.

Hi,

I've been looking for a decent/non-expensive defense blade, to use with Long Pips, and one of the blades I've come across is the XVT Balsa Carbon Hinoki. The manufacturer's specs of 10mm Thickness, weighing just 70gms±5, sound pretty astounding...Some reviewers on other forums, claim it has a pretty good dampening effect.

Has anyone else, over here,  tried this blade ?
