Like the title sez, I had a hit with Rocketman22 at the new Sacramento TT Gym and he Rek'd me good. There was a shot sequence he must have gotten me on 24 times today. He would hit one wide, I would fish or retrieve and have to guess where to go... I would choose a side to go and Rocketman would hit a winner where I wasn't. Musta happend two dozen times.

I competed well against him, better than I expected I could. Dude is legit, would be 2100 in NY or MD.

Rocketman22's shots are easily 2 levels above mine. I mean it, his consistency, spin, variation, aggression, use of angles, ability to keep it on table and touch on middle shots is well developed beyond mine.

Like me, he also LIKES the Pips Rubbers.

Here is the pic with he club owner, meez, and Rocketman22.... Look at dem gunz he got.

He likely just returned BH-Man's serves well and then laughed as BH-Man did the lambada.

No video?  You got to have video to entertain us.  Without fun videos from people like you, forum members are reduced to arguing over which players are over-rated.  Have you seen have many wasted posts are on the Qatar thread?  It's because we need more videos.  Next time, post videos.Tongue

I flex the guns a LOT, on both his and my FH winners.

I don't get how I got to 3 games before he did. Just about all the important strokes he does 1 or 2 levels better. His consistency is better, touch on soft block and low power opener way better than me, his angles, shot selection and point construction are where I need to be, but am not.

All I did better was hit hard or heavy spin and flex biceps... that is the summary of the few things I did better. It doesn't compute, Rocketman22 is better in just about every measurable way than me. Heck, his gunz are huge too.

BH-Man's serve is crazy spinny, as well as his power, and best of all his power-cho'ing.

That is about true for any situation vs anyone. A player is at a huge disadvantage if they cannot return the serve well against an attacking player. I am usually on that end, (can't return my opponent's serves well) but mask my weakness by trying to vary the spin, depth, and placement of my whimpy sell-out defensive return since I am too scared to step up to the table like a man and flip everything like the book sez I am supposed to maintain possession of my man-card. Against the U2100 crowd, it gets me by... however, against the 2000 and above crowd, consistency usually slaps me in the face.

I looked at the team entry form.  They're wanting a minimum of 36 teams to a maximum of 72 teams.  36 teams would require 36 tables.  From what you said 36 tables would be too many.  Do you agree?

I cannot see that club doing a tournament with acceptable room to play with any more than 20 tables in main room and 4-5 in small room. You could have decent room with 24 tables in that club.

Assuming all divisions play at same time... That leaves 8 tables per division... if there are 12 teams per division, that is 3 tables per 4 team groups in group stage. You are gunna have only 2 team vs team matchups happening anyway. This means that the 2 team vs team matchups being played have one dedicated table and alternate on another. That would work out OK, I have done tourneys where there is only one table per group and it went OK, alternating the second match between teams works.

If there are 48 teams, each team vs team matchup will have one table, it will be a little slow, but no waste. Matches will play soon after another.

If there are more than 48 teams total, it is gunna be a mess if everything is happening at the same time. The way to mitigate that is to stage times of the different divisions. That is how Korean amature TT handles it. For a field of 300 players doing 3 events with 5 divisions per gender, they get a tourney done with 24 tables.

Each team vs team matchup has a max of 5 matches, min of 3... that is about one hour 15 minutes if on one table, about 50 minutes if sharing a second table.

Another way to handle the group stages is to assign a group of 4 teams in group stages to a set of 4 tables. This means some group stages happen right away, some wait, but play is continuous and no waste. The TD would have to have teams in a group waiting ready to move onto a set of 4 tables when they free up. This also results in teams waiting after they finish group stage, but if there are more than 48 total teams, this cannot be avoided for this venue. It would still work efficiently if managed actively.

Once group stage is done, there are half the number of teams (24) and team vs team matchups (12) and that would be 2 tables per team vs team... then things really move along.

If there are the max 72 teams and 18 groups, then they can start 8 groups of 4 teams and work in more as blocks of tables free up. They would have to do tentative schedule and make captains understand, but it can be done efficiently. This type of turnout would make something like ALL Div 3 teams and 40% of Div 2 start first at 9:30 and the rest of Div 2 and most of Div 1 start around 11:00 with group stage mostly done around 12:30 or so. Div 3 and Div 2 knockouts start around 12:30 or so and Div 1 knockouts happen once Div 1 finishes... if teams report to control at appointed times and stay around, follow orders to go to table and not waste time, it will be done OK. BUT... it rarely works out that easy. Still, knockouts could start at 1 or 2 PM... plenty of time to finish tourney before Cinderella's ride turns into a pumpkin.

If Nam and company think it out and can properly brief team captains, then it can work smooth.

72 teams with 4 team groups on 24 tables can get done in 13 hours... but it will take some TD prep and organization plus the team captain ready at control desk on time with team ready at every start time. Would also take everyone not taking more than 2 minutes warmup.
