Interesting that Gu Yuting was not at the Qatar Open and is not listed for the German Open either.  She only has 5 ITTF results.

World Team Table Tennis Championships....

The composition of the women's national team of China in Halmstadt is interesting ....

Japanese team composition has already been published ....

FZD withdrew. And he might not be world #1 as Ovtcharov might still have higher score than him.

Interesting.  If so, then I think DO can surpass him if he makes the finals of the German Open.  Still, that's a very tough task if he has Ma Long in his half or even Xu Xin.

Anyone know the reason for the withdrawal?  I wonder if it's to lessen the chance of an early round CHN-CHN matchup.

He needs a break. He's been playing nonstop the last few months.

Should we have another thread?:  World Team Table Tennis Championships.
(Doesn't look right for this in the thread of German Open.)

Of the 13 players from China (4 men and 9 women), Huang YingQi is one player that I was not aware of.  After search, I found that she is 15 years old, and found a video of her playing.

Huang YingQi (CHN, 15 years old) vs Madarasz Dora.

55 players enrolled in 2018's German Open had played Harimoto before.
A Chinese fan from Japan had tallied Harimotos's H to H records with them.

Here is someone I would have liked to have entered: Guo Yan of China.  Although it's just one Super League match, if you can beat Chen Xingtong 3-0 then you should at least get a shot at playing internationally:

It's a meritocracy and there are a limited number of spots.  They have internal competitions to see who gets the chance to go.  Not quite the same as winning one super league match.  Of course, there are players I would like to see on tour too.  Heard Ma Te just won internal qualifying for the chance to play events later this year which the top players cannot attend:

From the picture, you can easily see this is not the old Guo Yan (born in 1982).
This is a younger Guo Yan, born in 1997.

These unseeded players from China, could give seeded players a run for the money.
(If they don't knock out each other in the qualification process. Some will get into the Main Draw.)

WU Yang

In the Qualification Groups, all of them are in the different groups. (They are OK there.)
But in the Preliminary Round, that's where they may run into each other.)

=============
ML is a better player than XX, that's for sure.  ML beat XX most of the time - but not all the time.

Example:
XX beat ML 4-2 in 2016 Japan Open.
XX beat ML 4-3 in 2016 Korea Open.

Your dream may very well come true.
