In last year's Asian cup, FZD lost to CCA in the group stage as well and meet with LGY in the final. They did this like routine now.

It seems that LGY lost first to rank second in his  group, and then FZD lost as well to rank second as well in his group. What an coincident.

Good questions, what is more important, losing matches in groups or getting two CNT members to final ?

They could of both won all their group matches so they wouldn't meet before the final? So pretty sure at Lin's losses were not intentional?

So, some people think FZD was ordered to lose Harimoto? just to get an extra silver medal for China? seriously? And this competition is no WTTC or Olympics.
Throwing matches can affect the player spirit and mentality. I don't think China ever orders their players to lose to a foreigner. Lose a Chinese team mate? maybe. A foreigner? I don't think so. Especially to a big threat like Harimoto, this win will give him a lot of confidence the next time he meets FZD or other Chinese players.
Can people just accept FZD is human after all? He has weaknesses, he has bad days, and Harimoto is already good enough to beat the best players if they are not at 100%.

There will always be speculation on results.

Other factors favoring Harimoto, Nittaku Ball and table used while CNT would prefer DHS ball and table. Differences just enough to decide a match.

To a sense, Harimoto is not that much a threat to CNT yet. He is a good player, but not a threat yet. Look at how he played in the recent months, he is still mostly a blocker or  defender to CNT members

It's hard to tell from the footage. I sometimes thought the same thing. Still if you were going to throw a match you'd dump that ball at 9-10 in game 3.

No point to argue too much about that. Harimoto beat FZD. But he lost in the next game. FZD won the cup at the end.

Facts only.

Another factor, Harimoto 4h rubber is harder to be consistent while CNT 4h rubber allows greater consistency. Therefore harder for Harimoto to be consistent over several matches especially at his age.

Almost 7 years difference between FZD and Harimoto.
If he really lets the game out there  it is much worse  than the screaming during the game.

I doubt this is a significant contributing factor. If Kasumi Ishikawa could get hold of Blue Sponge Hurricane 3, why can't Harimoto??

It isn't. Like, at all. Don't read too much into that silliness.

Not trying to be nitpicky, but he is absolutely the definition of a threat. "Threat" doesn't mean that you're already beating someone half or more of the time, that just means you're the top dog at that point. Threat means that you are nipping at someone's heels and cause for concern, which he undeniably is at this point.

I don't think so. Harimoto used his backhand block/counterhit amazingly well down the line many times with such pace. Won the last point with one of these.

I will say FZD did much more pushing in returning serve than I normally see specifically in game 1, but you never know what the plan was there.

Maybe he did throw the match but the return at 9-10 in game 3 doesn't make me think so. Harimoto hit an absolute monster backhand off of a quality backhand flick.

I suspect Harimoto has improved his serve and really worked on returning flicks.

This info coming from where?

harimoto used to beat under 40 players easily 4-0 a year ago now he beats them with lot of effort looks like many have found the recipe

Has he beaten a decent chopper yet? He seems still lacking power. Not surprising for his age, though.

China did order their players to lose to North Korea, which by any definition is a foreigner. It sounds crazy now but back then it made a lot of political sense. Nonetheless, it's also true China has never been suspected of losing to Japan by team order.

Both players' are about same size. Down the road Harimoto will gain muscle fzd had more time to build until now. Then if he keeps progressing what will stop him from dominating given how fzd dominates the world now. The 2019 wttc are maybe not far enough for that to matter much for the competition and at the same time it seems so far in the future. OK, time flies fast enough I am not going to wish it accelerates.

Side note to the kiddo: a shy bh in fzd's power zone? nuh-nuh-nuuh! (btw, observe fzd's speed getting back into position after that fh.)
