If you plan to own the higher grade of the darker speed 90, you should start hunting the Darker speed 90 HY BLADE.  It is only available in Taiwan market. I did owned afew Hy blade Jpen and 1 Cpen.  The grain is denser and feel is superb than the normal Speed 90. Hy blade do come with FL handle too.

Good luck.

Just arrived. I had Kevin use Shinshiro's template, invert it for a right hander, and add 2mm to the width. A masterpiece. More pics in my signature.

I saw the picture before I read your post, and I tought: wow, I know this blade! hahahah
I asked Kevin to do this shape because I wanted it to be easier to use RPB. Do you also intend to play using RPB?
Beautiful blade, for both of us LOL

Haha, yeah I'll be RPBing a lot. I'm known for my BH so I figured this would be a good design. So far right off the bat its much easier to maneuver than the Miyabi R Jpen I had even after extensive sanding. Its also easier for TBH. It never seemed like I could ever rotate my wrist far enough for TBH, but its really easy on this WRC Jpen.

Thanks for letting me steal your design. Beer

The first training-session with the Siam 1-ply was surprising for me

+ The speed was lower than Darker Speed 90 and WRC 1-ply from BBC = better control.
++ Looping was easier (better) than with all 1-ply blades that I had before
- The lower speed (better control) results in less top speed, which is a problem against defenders
- The weight (102g) is too heavy for me (with both sides pips in). That`s a big problem for me.

Next week I will boost the H3 and test a (lighter) short pips rubber on backhand. Or is there anyone who wants to trade this beauty against his Viscaria (not the actual version) or his Donic Ovtcharov No. 1 Senso?

Interesting, for the weight I expected to be very fast.
Did you notice any difference regarding feeling? (softer or harder than the mentioned blades)

I had a Septear (7 plies, ~7mm) and three different Nittaku single-ply hinoki blades (8-9mm).
The Septear felt pretty much exactly like the Miyabi FL I had, and close to the Miyabi R--that fluffy, cloud-like feel for sure.
Septear felt more flexy than the single-plies (great for looping, struggled in flat hitting), slightly softer, and probably a level slower.
Great feel and surprising control.

Maybe you can get an exchange to a lighter and smaller blade. In the Siam FB it says 94g. And the dimension is 151x158x9mm, the DS90 is 150x155x9mm. Big difference and hence much heavier weight. Did you test the frequency? What was the shipping cost?

Thanks DLC1325 :) do you think adding carbon inner (new nittaku septear) will negate the struggle in flat hitting?

Well, if the Nittaku Bloodwood (5.7mm+inner carbon layers) I had is any indication of the Septear Carbon (5.8mm, inner carbon layers), then no, it will still be flexy. However, some people don't have problems hitting with flexible blades. For the way I play, I am not one of those people.

The best way to negate that problem is to get--ahem--a single-ply hinoki blade. Big smile

The head size of my Siam 1-ply is 159 x 152 mm. This may be the reason for the higher weight. And this bigger head results also in a higher weight of the rubbers. With H3 on forehand and a relatively light Nittaku Factive 2,0 on backhand the total weight is 200g. In the first matches it did not matter much, but the more I played the more I felt the weight.

I think, this blade must be played with a light short pips or OX long pips on backhand and maybe also with a lighter rubber on forehand.

Well, maybe the H3 was freshly boosted last time. Also it is some months ago. Maybe I do not remember it correct.
