I just blogged about this, and the importance of the down-the-line forehand block. I used Harimoto Tomokazu and Werner Schlager as video examples.

I agree that forehand block is a very effective and underrated shot. Most people are only taught how to block with backhand. especially in china it's not accepted to do forehand blocks haha

I am Cpen/Jpen and I do blocks on both wings, and loops on both wings. I think if the shot demands it, go for it.

Absolutely. Do whatever works for you at the time. I often block on forehand but usually if i am not quite set up in time to drive or loop or counterloop which happens occasionally at my level. It can be very effective , especially close to the table.
