One of the delights in observing international play is the opportunity to develop comparative perspectives on different players from different countries.

In the 2018 Pan Am Juniors, I do not see anything particularly interesting on the Boys' side for the U.S.  The U.S. boys appear very strong to me, with Kanak leading the way, followed by impressive team members.  Using information from the U.S. boys' other international results, it appears they may be dominant.

On the U.S. Girls' side, the two match ups that are most intriguing (if they occur) are those matches against Adriana Diaz and Bruna Takashasi.  These two are far advanced in leading the South American/Central American/Caribbean contingent in international play and development, thus they are the brightest lights now and in the foreseeable future.  On the very fine U.S. girls' team, when factoring in a number of considerations, the player best positioned for a star future is Rachel Sung, the one who has earned (I sincerely hope) the greatest support attention from the USATT and other involved parties.

Stars are of extreme importance in sports' promotion.  Lily Zhang has contributed greatly in this regard for the U.S.  Kanak is rising.  The Pan Am Juniors is a wonderful platform for both experience cultivation and incremental star elevation.
