My current setup is a wood blade (koto outer) with Rasanter V42 and Fastarc S1. V42 is the best rubber out of ~6-7 I have tried. V42 just feels right for me but S1 just does not. I definitely  miss more shots with S1. I can't figure out what the problem is. Maybe S1 is less grippy? I twiddle to get a balanced view and the conclusion stays. A simple solution is to replace S1 with another V42.  I may end up doing this but at the same time it does not hurt (except my wallet) to experiment just a little while longer.

What I am looking for is something very close to V42 including weight (with the idea that I am fairly close to an optimum). The list I have: Rozena, R42, R37 (I have not tried any of these).  I tried Vega Euro, Vega Asia DF and did not like those (too much catapult, and for DF it felt not very grippy). I liked Factive but have not tried it on this blade yet.

Probably the R42 since it is almost similar except being spinnier and a tad less speed.

To me the feeling of R42 is really different comparing V42. I think that the most similar rubber is Tenergy 64fx except V42 is better in every aspect (speed, control, spin and durability).
What is the point of playing safe shots when you can miss with style

Would Rozena be as far away from V42 as R42? Rasanters share the sponge but that may not matter much if top sheet are sufficiently different.

Sorry but I have no idea. I have never played with Rozena.

Rozena is a bit harder and quite a bit faster than V42.  64FX is closer (as Tommy said) but I also prefer V42 in many ways to that (and it's a lot cheaper).

R42 is a good option, but Tommy's right (again!) that it feels really different.  Surprisingly so, actually.

The sensible idea is just to get another V42.  If you want to experiment, what would you actually look for?  If you want a bit more spin on a similar sponge you could try Omega 7 Europe?
This was a great signature until I realised it was overrated.

What I need is just a bit more speed on FH drive. I am using 1.7mm V42. Will 2mm do the trick while sticking with V42?
BTW, Rozena is actually cheaper or same price right now with the new promotion.

You'll find a few different opinions on what increasing the sponge thickness does.  IMO, it makes the rubber feel softer as a whole, and increases the top-gear power available (more catapult, spin when hitting harder).  That can give the end result of more speed, but you may find that the rubber feels a bit slower in passive situations.  It depends on your style to some degree.  With a softer sponge like V42, you may find that the arc flattens out on harder shots, and increasing the sponge thickness helps to avoid that to some degree.

Rozena is a really good rubber.  It's definitely a bit faster than V42, with stronger catapult feeling.  It also has great durability.  It's good value at the reduced price!

In every aspect (speed, control, spin and durability) you mention Tenergy 64 fx is superior then R42.

No. To me 64fx and V42 feels quite similar but
V42 is better. R42 is just different.

Everyone has own opinion and mine is (it doesnt mean that I'm right) that esn rubber cant have more durability then any rubber from Tenergy series.

Thank you everybody for the excellent feedback. I excluded Rozena because it is heavier and seems sufficiently different from V42. Ideally, I should have bought another V42 maybe 2.0 mm instead of 1.7 mm just to experiment a little. As the fate had it, there was a reasonably priced new R42 2.0 in "For Sale" section so went for it. Hopefully, I won't get too confused by the two parameter shift (top-sheet type and thickness). Testing it now. It has a clicking sound unlike V42 1.7 mm.
