It's hard to guess a rating when players are close to the same level.  If I were forced to guess I would put them in the 2200-2400 range.

I actually think it's harder to estimate level when one player destroys the other... Could be the better player making the other player look bad, or the worse player making the other player look good.

Some of them later in the video looked very 1600-1800 to me.

The pimp player is probably around 2150-2250. His opponent is not above 2200.

I wonder if the guy has pips or the anti. The other guy has a very difficult time dealing with his pushblocks.

The first couple of guys were hard to tell due to the style. I would need to play them or see more matches. I would guess both of them to be over 2000. The second two guys, the guy in the red shirt looked lower, around 1700 -1800ish. The guy in the black shirt of the second two guys was higher, not sure how high because his opponent wasn't that challenging.  The third set of guys, the guy in the black shirt is way more solid again, over 2000, but its hard to tell since his opponent is weaker and not very consistent against him. Its just really hard to tell by only watching 1 game vs 1 opponent. We would need to see more matches or actually play them to give a more precise estimate. I didn't watch the doubles matches.
Current Setup: TBS FH T80/BH D80
Official USATT Rating 1815
Current estimated level: 1800-1900.

No way the guys who lost in the second two games were 2200-2400. No way. Much lower. The other guys, I'm not sure since their opponents were lower.

I also think that’s too high. There was a couple of points in the first game where the non anti player put the block into the net after looping. Once is fine, but 2 consecutive points the same misread of spin?. He also looped a couple of balls well off the table and badly misread some serves. Even if he’s playing his opponent for the first time, at 2000+ level that shouldn’t happen. those kind of mistakes are my provenance and I am def not 2000 ;)

However videos are so misleading sometimes so what do I know? ;)

TTR or some such. I played with a German player at my club for a few months and he was 1450 rating in Germany he told me.

What's your us rating? And how did it go? Did you beat him and what was the final score.

Austria's system is different. They use ratingscentral.. at that level, their rating is probably 600 less than US rating.. 1500 is about 2100 US. One of the players in the video is a good friend of mine and I used to play league with him from 1991 to 1994.. He is the anti player who won the first match. He is about 2100 to 2200 level but he is the weakest player on his team. The top players on his team are about 2250 to 2300 level. When I play my friend when he visits me in the US, we usually go 5 games and I'm 2173 right now and was over 2200 when I last played him. Their team is the leading team in "1st class division" which is the 2nd highest state league in Vienna. Vienna Landesliga is the top leaague in Vienna.. All leages above are National Leagues. Based on their Austrian Rating, their US rating equivalent varies from about 2050 to high 2200's

Just another note. My friend has played several times in US clubs where he has not lost to any sub 2000 players..

We just had a german player at our local tournament (Dominique Haas) in Lakeland, rated TTR 1717 in germany. He got a US rating of just under 2000. He is better than that but lost to a underrated player to get that low of a rating. He plays about 2050 to 2100..

German rating is usually TTR plus 350 to 400 to be equivalent to US Rating.

Pushblocker, I actually did a statistical analysis a while ago of players who had both a USATT and a German TTR rating and you are pretty much spot on. My conversation formula was: USATT = TTR + 356 +/- 50

This seems about right. Kanak jha had 400 points less in Germany, when the us points were still comparable. Now that he is in the 2700s it doesn't work of course.

In these threads I think the tendency is for people to underrate players in video sometimes quite significantly, which is interesting.

Some of the estimates were dead on.. My friend with the anti who won the first match is the lowest rated player in the mix and based on his performance at US clubs, he plays 2100+. He will actually be here in Florida Nov 18 to 21. Will try to bring him to my local club..

That's true but some were well off...the more unusual the style from standard looper the more likely the rating underestimate I think. The less athletic a player looks the more likely they get underestimated too.

I agree.. My Austrian friend actually used to be much higher rated when they still had frictionless pips.. He was rated about 350 points higher back then, probably playing about 2300+ level at that time.. He switched to short pips and later to frictionless anti.. He still pulls many upsets against players 200 rating points above him but with such style, you also can get upset fairly frequently. As I said, he would be solid 2100's in the US. I have tried to get him to play a tournament in the US but the timing of his trips to the US never allowed him to play in a tournament as he usually goes on Caribbean Cruises out of Miami and only has 2 - 3 days in Florida, usually mid-week... so the only tt he gets to play in the US is at the club..
If everything works out, I may bring him to the Port Tampa club on Nov 20...

Do you know which exact anti he is playing? I'd be interested to hear since I play frictionless anti as well.
