hi tabletennischicago, in case you are interested, you can edit your original post and do the following:

You will probably see something like this (replace all "V" by "U" everytime you see "TVBE" below):

[TVBE]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMxLgcfP3oY[/TVBE]

Instead, write that:

[TVBE]OMxLgcfP3oY[/TVBE] and replace the V with "U" (TUBE).

Next time, when you use the icon to insert a video, only write the video ID which here is "OMxLgcfP3oY"

cheers!

I think he has a niice technique and good timing. Tabletennis is alot about explode when you contact the ball so the highest amount of energy Will go into the ball. He does that good. I find it interesting that the other Guy keeps playing to his backhand. If you lose in backhand backhand, then you are not as good with the backhand and should try to move the ball to other places. He could try playing more to his forehand and even more into the pocket since the Guy almost never steps around so he Will proably have problem getting the ball in the pocket.

I saw the video yesterday and was amazed by his BH (and FH) power.  Wonder why his rating is not higher.

Yichi usually plays near Chicago and most of the tournaments I see him in around here he is usually rated in the top 3 so its hard for him to get rating points. I also believe he spends time training kids(some of the best in the country) so I doubt he gets to focus on himself as much as he could. I saw he is registered for Aurora and there are almost 10 players rated higher than him so maybe he can move up.

I am mesmerized by his explosiveness and he reminded me what I felt the 1st time I watched Gustavo Messias training: http://mytabletennis.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=72341. Both players share that super fast acceleration, with elegance, in an effortless manner, it's gotta be talent! or maybe hard work :)

I Do not think gustavos backhand was something special, But i like how high he has his racket. I think the asian guy in this thread have a better backhand. Or atleast it looks like it in my opinion.

I really wonder what sort of focused training one can do to enable such explosive backhand. I am among those who struggle to exert strength when doing backhand. I sometimes can only if my feet are planted well but that often doesn't happen during a match. This guy seems to be able to just generate such explosive backhand so naturally.

Relaxation and "whip". It's mostly about the backswing. Shadow swinging and really getting the technique right helps. Most people have short stabby backhands (like me).

Watch Hugo and Pitchford and see the tlwrist relaxed and the whip they get.

For backhand power, lead the stroke with the elbow.
The Older I get, The better I was.

I like Sameh Awadallah's BH as well. It reminds me of Karakasevic's.
