Inspired by Sun Mingyang, I'm finding a way to compete while conserving energy. I'm adjusting to a backhand stance with more backhand attacks. I have consistency issues and lack the necessary confidence at the moment, but I see its potential. I can also play significantly longer without hurting as much and getting tired.

Here are highlights from my recent tournament.

Did you beat Mr. Dewitt in that match?

I beat Rich DeWitt 11-9 in the 5th after blowing a 10-7 lead in the 4th up 2-1. I figured that he couldn't force me out of position if I didn't move. I didn't realize my (inexpensive) new camera has a built in 30 minute timer for recording video. I let it run from a previous match and tragically, the camera shut itself off only 4 points into game 1.

After beating Rich, my post match celebration made Adam Bobrow's ping pong dance look tame. Again, a darn shame my camera cut out in game 1.

Do not get too cocky.  I hear the only reason you won was that Richard had to play with brand new rubber. Smile

For those not familiar that is just a joke based on postings in a very long thread about Richard's game.

I am shocked that the "end the point quick" strategy is something you are just now trying. I am definitely going to that style myself.

Richard Dewitt's memorable deed, not to be ever surpassed, I believe.

Often I have observed that even players of considerably higher rating than Rich DeWitt express much relief when they are successful against him, for he is a tormentor on the table.  Very good!
Tenergy: Two weeks of heaven, followed by three months of excellence, then, a nice rubber.
