Just glued a new sheet of Spectol Red (short pips) on my Clipper.  Doing a ball bounce test the new Spectol seemed significantly faster than the Tenergy 25 on the other side.  I did use rubber cement so maybe it is just glue effect.  T25 sheet is about 3 months old.

The PIPs are harder on SP, so on bounce test SP will appear faster.

Good to know.  The first time I put on the Spectol I must not have done the bounce thing (or my senile senior mind has no memory of it).

   PRICEY EXPERIMENT ....

Dynamic tests needed.   Ball impact speed on the rubber ought to be of minimum 20 m/sec.
Machine to project ball at so high speed will cost you a fortune of 200 000 USD.
The speed, spin and angle of the reflected ball are measured automatically and the friction - and other properties - computed.    Unfortunately, the only such device we know of is owned by its developer, Butterfly Tamasu researh group, Tokyo, Japan .

Be happy/

I would expect the Spectol Red to be faster than T25. For pure speed, short pimple are often faster because all your energy goes into speed and much less into spin.

In my experience short pimples is almost always much slower than inverted.

Raw pips for attacking like Spectol and its variants are actually among the fastest rubbers you could get. Generally speaking, they have the highest COR.

Typical non-inverted rubbers are closer to inverted in terms of speed.

Inverted has the best balance b/w speed and spin.

I have to agree with Lula here, short pips are slower compared to inverted. Even the fastest short pips slow the ball down and make it dead. You will notice this when you start flat hitting hard. At first it's reallly fast and then the ball slows down significantly after it has bounced on the opponents side.
