It will go great with RW5. It has a soft Topsheet so doesn’t feel very hard. I use R53 on both sides of my w968.Very very happy.

Has anyone tried boosting about a month old R53 with one layer of booster?

I recently ordered one and tested the r53. It's my 2nd favorite rubber besides mxp 50. Compared to the new hard rubbers it's definitely much better. Hated the DNA series there's no consistency and it had a weird behavior. R53 is not hard to control and on my new w968 it did wonders and have a very sharp trajectory on hard loops while maintaining a nice medium arc on slower shots. It has the nice clicky sound which is music to my ears. Though cutting r53 was a bit tough since the sponge is soo thick. Nonetheless it's an amazing rubber and fits my style. Could easily switch between mxp hard 50° and this rubber

Did you get max sponge thickness? I’m also tired of boosting H3N and would like to give this a shot.

Also were you cutting with a knife or scissors?

A few have mentioned the high price of R53. I just ordered 8 sheets from TT11, and with the volume discount it came out to $38 a sheet with no cost for shipping.

I'll probably end up using 4-5 myself and selling the others to other players at the club that don't order their own rubbers.

Are you playing it unboosted on the backhand?
