Has anyone tried the BARNA original rubbers and blade?
I have an older Dunlop Barna blade that still has the original rubbers which i am thinking of changing. The only place online i see them at in quantity is Bribar in the UK. Thanks in advance for any opinions on the "new" sheets and blades. |

It would be useful info, I am also interested into the new Barna rubbers. I am in restoration myself with a very very old barna wood, probably the very 1st series from 1940's. When I finish it I will be definitely looking for a set from these rubbers - LONG and PIPS-IN. That blade has ultra good "stopping the ball" and crazy amount of spin and sensitiveness. Should be nice to be combined with same name branded rubbers, near 80 years later... :) :) :)

The brand name was bought by Der Materialspezialist (not by Andro) and they have recently released a bunch of new rubbers and blades. See here:
You can find a few tests in some German forums like Noppentest.

Myself i'll be going for 001 and 006...my need is more for "sentiments"...as this was my setup that took me thru HS league and my country's National Tournaments - i have many fond stories using this this blade. "aah" nostalgia ...from looking at the images of the new rubber...the sponge looks white just like the originals btw...using two black sheets! Now to dig up some Halex 38mm Edited by Charlie Brown - 10/26/2019 at 11:05am |

Legend Classic is the only one that seems like it might be related to any actual legendary or classic Barna rubber. But my bet is that we will find that it produces significantly more spin than the classic Barna rubbers. And given the price for an OX sheet, that discovery is not likely to be made by me. :^)

Yes, the guys from geblocktt tested a few of the Barna rubbers. I get that they are not really high performance rubbers, more like decent allround / entry-level rubbers.
