Or use sticky paper masking tape. Much faster. Just stick it on the glue and then remove.

Consider buying a small bottle of Tear Mender (a very runny latex glue designed for repairing fabrics) specifically for this. You simply need to add 2-3 layers of TM over the old layers of wbg and peel once dried. I made a video about this a few years ago and it includes links for the TM and foam brushes in the youtube video description, hope this helps :)
edit: Also wanted to mention - drying the TM or wbg with a fan hardens the latex layer somewhat, while drying using warm air will soften the latex and may make removal a bit easier if the old wbg does not want to release from the sponge. Take care not to use high heat or leave it blow drying for too long though as you can melt the glue between the topsheet and sponge.

Hi all,
What is the best way to remove old layers of water-based glue (TSP Bio Fix/Free Chack etc.) from a rubber? Is this possible in the first place? It was easy back in the day - one would only have to use some kind of organic solvent. But how to remove these new latex glues? Thanks
