I am looking to buy a cheap robot that is simple and can serve multiple topspin.

Can anyone recommend a decent one (within $100)? Thanks.

Hi kindof99
Under 100$ you can make couple of return boards, or mb can buy used robot from someone.
I found really good robot with replenishing cycle of balls costs minimum 400$
It is cheapest one.
IMHO: All others - are not so good because replenishing cycle is crucial.

Thanks. I don’t need replenishing right now.
I am looking at those about $100 Ipong robots, and might just go with one of them.

IMHO that Ipong robot - almost waste of money.
But when not enough money - it's better than nothing.
It's better than RB in case when you want to train service return, but all other stuff is worse.
So I personally having 100$ would choose 200-300 balls and a return board with cheap chinese rubber or 2 boards (1 with rubber) with 100 balls.

Ipong is useless unless you have someone to feed it balls.
30 topsin balls in a row is too few.
It can create realistic backspin balls for you to learn looping or flicks,
but it shoots them too frequently to make it realistic/useful.

IMHO it worth paying 400$ and wait for 1 month for really good robot for players to improve at least till 2200 USATT than to waste 100$ dollars and move it to trash like in 3 weeks.

I’m personally very happy with both my return board and cheap Ipong robot. If going the return board route, I’d just get the Wally Rebounder ($229 w/shipping):  https://wallyrebounder.com/products/wally-rebounder-advanced-rebounding-system?variant=50026536199
There’s smaller, lower quality boards from China you can find on AliExpress, but after shipping costs etc I don’t know if it’s really worth the savings...plus you’d be supporting a U.S. company, much shorter shipping time, and they’re super responsive and helpful if u have questions.

In terms of the robot, I use ~120 balls per time, and I could easily put more; just make a little higher wall around the ball bin  at the top using cardboard, or a bucket with its bottom cut out, etc. Just be sure to keep the area clean so the balls don’t get dirty and jam the robot. (Mine’s indoors so I almost never have that issue, and it’s 5 yrs old.) If you opt for the robot and use it often, you may want to invest in a “My ping pong buddy” ball picker eventually to save ur back—that’s been on my wish list for awhile :)

Hi, nittakuball.
Do not recommend to buy ready made RB.
Recommend to buy the sheet of plywood and cut it into 2 pieces.
That's it 2 RBs are ready, but they  are reversed.
If you want - you can order 8 couples of cheap Chinese rubber for 56$ all and glue from one side of both.

I made mine with two left over wardrobe shells. Then I bought a bundle of 10 Friendship for 25$ and another 10€ for the wood for the legs. More or less that was it.(I don't count the glue)

I was lucky to get a Newgy 1040, catch net, some ball picker upper thingys and a case 30-40 balls for $200 bucks here in NYC.  Keep looking around on FB marketplace, Craigslist, Offerup.com etc and I am sure you'll be able to find something.
