I have just began playing with hurricane 3 yesterday, and my first impressions of this rubber are great: adds lots of extra spin to my service and is great for 3rd ball attacks, especially off underspin balls. My one problem is that i am finding it difficult to do loop to loop rallies i find that, although i do get the ball on the table often enough, i am missing shots because i either spin the ball too much and it goes long, or i send it straight into the net, im not sure if the problem is my racket angle, or my stroke itself, I have already adjusted my stroke and am using a larger swing. I know it will take some change in technique to get used to this, but any tips are appreciated. Cheers, Pip |

Counterlooping is more difficult than looping back spin with H3. This is because of the high throw angle of the rubber. You will have to close your blade more and swing out. I try to take it close to the top of the bounce or on the rise. For me the problem is landing it on the table I dont have to worry about the net.

wtwfitz : very long invincible post... i initially thought there was some kind of pic that you have up loaded, but the funny thing is that only after 10 minutes...there was nothing... anyway about the h3, give it a little bit more time...adjust accordingly... |

Yes it was strange and I could not get it adjusted so I had to do it all over.

Maybe you should try H3 with a little slower blade, like the old keyshot.

1000 i know, its probably a bit too low to be using hurricane 3, but my coach bought one and he said it wasnt good for his style, and since i wanted to try one, i traded with him, i hd been using innova which is too soft 4 me.

Maybe you should try National H3, I had a sheet and it was bouncier than commercial H3 and that might help due to a slight decrease in dwell and a slight increase in speed.

At 1000 rating I really think it is not so important to have a National DHS H3. What is helpful, just to have more time to practice :) And H3 is good rubber for that. Good luck!

thanks a lot for helpful advice, no im not going to go for national H3, i think i am going to go back to euro/jap rubbers, but one day, when my rating is higher, i expect i should try using H3 again. I just feel that this rubber is a bit too much for me to handle at the moment, even though it plays quite well.

I use a much shorter stroke (but still played at 90% strength). Playing the long stroke as with european rubbers, i think it is hard to get that touch i want with chinese rubbers (have it stick to the rubber and then be propelled with lots of spin). Maybe you should give it a try. |
