Anyone noticed that the outer layer of Viscaria has gone a bit thinner??

I am not joking, I have several Viscarias including a few old ones. Basically the wood is the same among all up to S serial, and starting from T serial, the outer layer is a bit thinner. I even checked a LGY Alc T serial, and this is identical to Viscsaria T serial, so this is thinner too.

Not sure why Butterfly made this change. I tested both S and T serial ones to see if there are any differences. there was defo something I felt although the difference was not massive. The T serial was a bit more bouncy while the S serial had a better dwell. Again the difference is pretty small, so you get on with T serial just fine. However I liked the S serial much better.

What do you think guys? should I start hogging Q, R, S serial Viscarias now?

Honestly I don’t believe that. Have you actually compare your T serial with another Viscaria (S or earlier Serial)?? You can’t tell until you put them side by side.

A photo proof would be appreciated.

mate, that’s exactly what I am saying. Your Viscaria is same as my T serial. Thinner. You will know if you get a Viscaria earlier than S serial.

Where did you buy it from? There are so many fake blades.

Bought it directly from Butterfly, not even from one of their sellers. Let’s not get off topic, I am a EJ, I can spot fake blades instantly.

As I said, this hasn’t just happened to my blade only. By looking at several T serial blades, my guess is Butterfly has made the change and now this has been implemented for quite some time.

BTY just run out of previous top ply stock.

On the serious note, however, do think it's not a handle part but goes like that all over the playing surface?

Unrelated question. You said you have a few viscaria blades. Can you give a honest opinion on what is special about that blade? Seems to be popular choice. However I am always asking myself why so? Is it just a youtube effect - people copy pro players or blade delivers something unique? I know that there are many variation of the same basic structure, like LGY, TBO, ZJC. Some play faster than others, but this particular a basic grey handle one, what is good about it, other than a re-sell value? Thanks.

I am pretty sure it’s not just the handle part, and who would do that, would be difficult to only make the handle part thinner.

Regarding using Viscaria, I can’t speak for everyone, but I use it because I tried many different blades and Viscaria just happen to suit me, fast enough but also enough dwell time for my liking. I wouldn’t use it just because of its popularity.
