I am fairly sure he is one of the juniors.

Hi,
In general, these matches are set up with members of the Men's National Second Team, which trains in the floor below the First Team at the National Training Center. Thanks.

It's incredible that Wang Manyu destroyed him without any handicap...it shows that the differences aren't that big between the genders imo. In tennis or badminton the gulf is way bigger...

Let me be more explicit - this would have been his final year of eligibility to play the WJTTC.

no it doesn't, and the differences are significant. WMY, when on form, is arguably the best female player in the world, and without a doubt top 3. zeng beixun is a relatively inexperienced 18 year old B team player who will likely be replaced within a few years. lily zhang is 2600-2650 usatt, and a top 40 woman in the world who has some serious accolades. Kanak jha is 2800 usatt and holds a similar world ranking. the gulf between 2800 and 2650 is indescribable. the top women players are incredible. they do some things better than men players do. but to say that overall the levels are the similar is completely wrong. 2600-2650 rated men don't even make the main draw in most larger international tournaments. I was comparing it to the gender differences in other sports. See for eg badminton where Tai Tzu Ying (Olympic silver medalist) lost to a men's practice partner easily, even with handicap.... |

you have to look at this in the big picture, like i detailed above.
if we want to find single examples, there are quite a few CNT mens practice partners who could also win easily against the top women, look no further than the chen meng and ma te example above. or this... |

Sun Yingsha had some 4 match points, it was nowhere as lopsided as the badminton match where the guy was taking it easy and could score points almost at will... What I'm saying is that, the gender differences in performance in table tennis seem to be quite a bit smaller than other sports...
