Kong Linghui used to do that a lot.

I think bh serve is not popular cuz it's too obvious.

one guy in my club uses it. both with underspin and sidespin, he undercovers quite well, he makes the motion the same in both.
i use it a lot, but side spin only, it's very effective to me.

I serve backhand so I can open up with the backhand.

it doesnt make sense! you cant choose the side you want to open up the point, even primorac has  problems when good players on the table flip his serves to his fh

An "uncle" of mine does it, but then again he modelled himself after Primorac.

what about when you serve fh from bh corner? Then you can

play all fh if you want to.

However Bh srve from fh corner you probably dont want to take yr fh out of the picture to that extent!

Backhand serving is not as versatile as forehand. Especially when it comes to no-spin balls, and fast rocket serves to the corners.

With the forehand, you can much more easily execute a large variety of serves, and hiding the spin is much easier too.

But it's definitely good to mix it up and do both.
