Anyone familiar with the model of this blade? It's chinese penhold made from 5 ply wood.
Dark outer plies. There is visible part of the signatures which says : OUPLERINGS, the 1st letter is missing, could be C - COUPLERINGS. Never seen this brand before, but it has the style of all other chinese bats for penhold style from 70's-80's.
I hope someone can name the brand. Blade is hard and bouncy, 150-157mm, about 103 grams, but it feels lighter. Excellent balance, power, spin. It was equipped with red and green pips posted on a thick yellow sponges.

No, it's not DOUBLE RINGS. Maybe the photo is not very clear but visible part of the signature is OUPLERINGS.
By the way, I found the brand - COUPLE (of) RINGS. Not sure if this factory exist today..
But this blade, according my experience with tt materials - it's wonderful.
102 grams, 6.0mm, 150mm-157mm, it feels like 90 grams in the hand. Excellent blade.
Outer plies are darker color and backside is very beatuful, it has something like an eye in te wood.

If you know more details for this brand - I'll be thankful. Smile

https://www.7788.com/289850/auction_3046_28622788_0.html

The seller of the auction above referred it as 双环  which is  double ring.
The darker plies most likely is Luan, Philippine mahogany.
Please show a picture of the edge/side of your blade.
Most cpen blades of the 90s are very similar, like the brands Shield, meteoroid,
double happiness.
The better ones have Luan plies, like double happiness 032.

Also looks like the "gold cup" which was from long time ago, very solid wood blade. The logo definitely looks like it. Double rings might have been the maker, Double rings was used for their balls, which as also very popular back in the days.

Thank you for your explanation! The smell of this blade is like the smell of a luxory furniture. In the same time the handles are same as each well know old blades cheap and low quality. That made me mixed in feelings and decided to check it.
So, please check the pictures once again. Do you really think it is mahogany outer plies?
I think it is ash tree or maple, but not absolutely sure.

I am surprised about the skills and sizes of this blade. Head size is same as today's butterfly shakehand blades, 1:1. And so big density (102 grams) in only 6.0mm and 5 plies made me wondering why today these blades are no more available....
By the way, is this factory still working or closed? Double Rings....I know very well the brand Double Circles. But Couple Rings / Double Rings I have never seen in my life.
Thank you very much once again for all the information.

It is not Luna. Most likely it is basswood (椴木).

Check out this really old 6-ply blade (1,218 CYN ! or 173 Euro !!)

The two darker inner plies are Luan.

I can not estimate playing skills of blade just by picture without info for the size weight and thickness.
Not sure but I think my Couple of Rings blade not basswood. The catapult and hardness are better than my basswood blades. I think I have DHS blade FL about 125 grams with this material Luan inside, not on the top. Huge head and very heavy.
From other side 173 eur is not something dangerous if the blade is really nice for playing. At least, 2 rubbers Dignics are about the same price with delivery.
What do you think for the price of my Cpen Double Rings? 102 grams, 6.0mm, 150mm/157mm. Excellent details for a good for playing blade in my opinion. I am not Cpen specialist but I can give value to materials according outer look and playing skills. Not each expensive material blade is OK for playing.

Wood is part of the equation, glue and pressing also determine the hardness.
5-ply blades like yours are not desirable in the market, with the exception
of authentic DHS 032 and Shun-Feng 6-ply.

DHS 7-ply is more desirable, I have not seen any in the open market.

I have 7 ply DHS Special Edition from 2000's Sydney's Olympic Games. If someone is interested I am able to sell it. Several years ago some forum member from Hong Kong offered me 90 USD for it. I refused. I even don't remember the name of the member, but later found he is maybe correct about the price for this blade. It has original box and some stickers, mint condition and clean from the original rubbers. Speed is like Schlager carbon and handle is very compact. The head is also very nice. In my eyes it is probably best option for 1.5mm pips-out rubber player on backhand and max thickness smooth rubber on forehand.

Thank you for the pictures. It is in very good condition.
Your blade probably is from the late 90s.
I bought mine in the late 70s.
They have crude debossed numbers 08, 032 (016 not in the picture).
The black lines between the plies are hide (pig ?) glues.

Thank you too! You have probably nice for playing blades!
By the way, can you tell me what exactly means the signature 706 posted below the handle of my Couple Rings blade?

Factory code ?
These two double rings blades both have 706 on them.

I have seen code like this:
  XXXX-BBB-YY-DD
or XXX-YY-DD

BBB may represent batch number.

Blades that have chinese characters below the handles are typically
name of the factory.

Hello. My shield cpen has 6080 painted on bottom of handle. It is a very very good for smashing. I can still use to smash the ball by taking a strong step and use aggressive forehand strike. But rubber is very hard after 30 years. Thank you.
