Short Pips on OC?

   What do you think of short pips on OC?

I'm about to try short pips and I know it's recommended they're played on a thick 7-ply but I just need something that can slightly decrease spin when blocking and enable me to hit through slow spin balls without the extra speed.

Anyone tried this?
