hi,

i'm interested to know what drill patterns people use in their training.

For example, for choppers;

1. Long ball to forehand - return long
2. Long ball to backhand - return long
3. Short ball to forehand - smash/kill

One thing that I do (and like) is Timo Boll's drill;

1. Long ball backhand - BH loop
2. Side step
3. Long ball backhand - FH loop
4. Side step back

Thanks for sharing

One practice that I use is the XII. One player always strikes teh ball crossing the table like an X the other player always strike straight making his polay look like II. This way both players are forced to move around and creates variation fh-bh.

My favourite drill is 'N': counter hitting
Blocker sends:
short to fh
long to fh
short to bh
long to bh
worker plays all forehand.
vary the practice by sometimes playing nice rythm
and long rally sometimes blocker plays more severe

The great thing about this exercise is that it practices forward backward as well as sideways movement. If you study your practice you may well find you do too much sideways. I also do it pushing as well asit good for my table play footwork
