my coach said that if your rubber has died, you can put water on the rubber, wait for it to dry, and keep repeating about 20 times, and the rubber will rejuvenate. can anyone confirm this?

I don't think that it makes sense. Rubber doesn't absorb water, so the water functions only as cleaner. I read somewhere that WD 40 improves the condition of dead rubber, but for me when it is dead it is better to replace it.

Yeah, once your rubber dries out, something like wd40 can be rubbed in and it will give your rubber a new feel for a couple of days. You just end up doing it every week or so from then on.
