I'm debating whether I should get MJ-ZLC or Viscaria? Either blade will be plays as both penhold and shakehand depending if I'm competing or just practicing. I love MJ as that's the blade I've played with for a long time and the ST handle feels so nice. Viscaria on the other hand is great to play shakehand with, but I'm not that big of an ALC fan anymore.
Which one would you choose if you were in my shoe? Penhold style: emphasis on RPB Shakehand style: practice to improve

You love the MJ and are not a fan of ALC. You've answered your own question. |

Mizutani has best feeling, Viscaria has more comfortable FL handle

As long as you can control the mizutani's speed, MJ generally does feel better even in touch games. I used IF ZLC for 2 weeks and then realized just how dead the ALC blades feel in short games.
Of course, you could always get IF ZLC CP

I love the fl handle of the viscaria when playing shakehand. Mj st feels good too. I have not played with an ALC for a long time. But last night when I played with a friends viscaria with tenergy 05 fx on the backhand side, it felt so alive and explosive. Which is why I am undecisive.

Another thing is I want to improve on my short game, so in that aspect, the viscaria seems to be a better option. But mj is softer yet bouncier I believe. Which is why the dilemma is so hard.

Liulin04: so when are you selling your 2 MJ-SZLC?
A member at my club was interested in purchasing one after trying it out. |

I've always felt ALC blades are one of the worst for short games, the carbon feels pretty dead

I don't think Viscaria excels on short game, in fact I feel like it plays better when you are somewhat away from the table.

The short game is so subjective. Essentially, you can make any blade tolerable near the net. It boils down to how loose of a grip you can maintain and how softly you can touch the ball. Hitting is much of the same. Looping, however, one can not simply make any blade a good looping blade by grip and contact. This is what I would base my decision on, which one allows you to loop the way you desire?

the price difference is high, so it's not a fair comparison.
also there's michael maze/freitas. I also liked the fake mizutani super zlc. it's just a bit slower and harder than the maze. |

I would stick with the blade you used to play for a long time which is MJ ZLC. "the longer you play with same set-up the better you will be overall as a player" Look at best players in your club or pros - they usually stick to the same blade for many years, sometimes just change handle for sponsoring issues :-)
