A very strong proponent of the Katana style. Might be even over 2400!

It is explained in this video, Katana Sword style,
I think the main difference is when you doing FH loop, the regula rpenhold has paddle longitudinal axis almost parallel to forearm , but the katana(Sword) style will have thumb & index finger loosely gripping the paddle, and use most other finger to energize the hit. Then, the longitudinal axis of paddle is almost perpendicular to Forearm , |

Katana style?
Seriously, that's how the shakehand grip is colloquially(刀板) called in Taiwan. The grip in question is in fact closer to the penhold grip, as in using the ink brush. |

What amazed me is not the katana style, but those permanent long services front both sides.
It seems there is a huge cultural difference regarding the serving way with lots of european countries.
where long service is an exception:)) |

Anyone who has played enough against long pips knows long serve is the way to go.
Minimizing the angle and depth available to a long-pips blocker is a necessity, otherwise you'll have a hell of a time, on top of erratic kicks. Due to the inherent nature of long pips, speed negation is much more difficult to pull off than spin reversal. Another factor is that amateurs rarely have the footwork and consistency to take full advantage of the chances presented by long serves. Serving deep fast should thus be the primary objective when playing this type of players. As demonstrated in one of the semifinals: In the final, the young dude stuck to the same tactic and his consistency in the later games really showed how devastating deep fast serves could be: Here is a video from last month of Chiang Peng-lung having a difficult time playing the same long-pips dude. Count the times Chiang served short: Edited by zeio - 12/23/2016 at 6:43am |

Young guy in 2nd video above, all his serves are illegal, no vertical toss and some hiding the ball. |

You are 100% right but...I wanted to say that both players serve long, even the one who has LP For me, the most efficient service is not a long service when playing LP but short service right in the forehand with spin variation so you obliged the LP player coming forward. Long services is ok but 2-3 times and then the guy is used.
