Does anyone have personal experience with Nittaku's large handle size vs. regular, e.g. in the Violin series? My research shows that the length is the same or only 1 / 2 mm longer, and the circumference is only a few mm longer as well. I'm thinking "Large" works better because Nittaku handles run small from what I've read. fwiw, I've attached a couple pics of my hand against a soda can for reference. P.S. I appreciate everyone's inputs. I have mostly asked questions since I've been here, but I'll definitely contribute when I can. Thank you! |

I've seen this info before, but it's hard to put it in perspective. |

The large handle feels comfortable to me. obviously by looking at the measurements, you can tell it is not outlandishly large.

Just take any blade of yours with a small handle, measure it, then wrap it in something until you reach the dimensions I listed. If you're interested in FL handle, it's going to be trickier... |

Handle big or small, you will get use to it, just don't grip the large handle blade.
Just hold a small handle blade, your hand will adjust and feel it bigger. I used to like using large handle Acoustic/Violin. Now I prefer normal one, because of the balance, I like to have a head heavy setup. Large handle blades will hard to find rubber to make it head heavy. If your hand is big, hold the edge of the FL handle more, you will find it bigger than holding close to the wing. |

I actually disagree with the last comment. I would have once agreed, but no longer. I am about 185 cm tall, and my hands are proportional, and therefore I am taller than the average Asian table tennis player. I don't think Nittaku and Butterfly handles are designed for people like me. Consequently, I use grip wraps to make the handle larger.
You will get "used" to it but it doesn't mean it is optimal. If your hands are large you need to have a handle that fits your hand. This will make it a lot easier to make fast transitions from FH to BH without as large of a grip change. The result is that you are not fumbling around, and you will be smooth. You will never actually know how big of an impact it makes until you play with a handle that fits your hand properly. This is a big reason I think why Timo Boll, for example, clearly has a handle that has been modified to make it larger and asymmetric. However, the OP doesn't look like he has large hands. |
