Hah.  If only I could afford a coach.    I'm my own coach I meet with myself every couple times a week.

My father is my personaly coach. He train me 3-4 time a week throving me intervals. We saw Wang Tao training on iternet, and wrote his exercise. I do this exercise for a 2 monts and I become much better player. I am Faster and I hit a boll with much better spin and spin and control.

My coach trains a few students. Which means a few students including me share the same coach. We train once a week. I play at my community club 3 times a week, I mostly play with my friend and veteran players over there (depends on whether I get the chance to).

I began training with my coach 1hr per week, but then increase the training to 2 times per week and have been training twice a week for 2 hour sessions.

Maximum I've ever done was 6hrs a week, but my wife asked me to cut down on the time I spend on table tennis. I still keep 4 hours a week training with coach and another 6-8 hours practicing and playing games with others.

Ideally it is best to achieve a good balance that allows you to learn new material and train new things and also realistic game practice against many styles. That seems to work for me.

I started out with 1.5 hr/week when the economy was going strong, and now whenever my wife spares me $40 (which is like once every few months).  Besides, I think I've learned everything he has to teach so it's more like helping a friend paying his bill than training.

I'm more of a coach/trainer nowadays than a player. At our club all our youth players get to train twice a week for 90 minutes with a qualified coach, more talented players get a third or even fourth training a week. And of course league games every weekend. We do not charge extra for training other than basic membersip fees.

never - I rely on lots of games against a variety of players and feedback from peers, self reflection and self direction on what to focus on during this.

GET this guys!!!!!!!!

today I an older Asian guy, offered me $20 to coach him but he fed the balls to me, he wanted me to be his training partner!!!!!!!! so for and hour I felt like I had a coach except he was paying me to loop as hard as I could at him!

I have never trained that hard for about 5 years

far out I hope he calls me for more "coaching"

Because there are no coaches in my state, I do an annual clinic with MIT's coach that includes a group lesson and a 1-2 hour individual lesson.

And then I spend the next year trying to implement to 1-2 of the 3-4 things he shows me.

Sadly, much of what I have learned (a rainbow shaped backhand, and a powerful bh loop) i can only do while training/drilling and these strokes rarely pop out during games. I would have to change from close to the table to mid distance to use the strokes he taught me, and I don't have the transition game to get into that poisition.
