The way I deal with long backspin(using SP's), is that I contact the ball at or below table height, and hit the ball at roughly 4-5 o'clock (looking at the side of the ball from the BH corner). I then swing upwards at about a 45 degree angleandaslighlyopenbatface, whichclosesasIclearthetopofthetable.

I'd practice looping the ball at different times (on the rise to just before the descent).  It's also called a slow loop (if I'm interpreting correctly) or just slow the speed of your follow through against the chop.  You need a defender that is willing to practice with you and always approach (go into) the chop.

Against choppers' underspin shots, you have to loop with heavy top spin. However occasional push is okay to get back to looping mode again.

The rolling of balls with light top spin may work against only weak defensive players. I had the problem against light top spin before. Now I can generate the same underspin on those balls as I do against heavy top spin.

Whenever I see my opponent is going to into that style of playing against me, I finish the point fast.
