USATT initiated and implemented the new rating access subscription fee, that does not affect existing USATT members and does not affect those who have played tournament in the past 12 months - it only affects those who are not USATT members and who have not played tournament in the past year, and still crazy about finding out the league rating and willing to pay $25/year to see it (not too many in this category, I guess.)

USATT thinks this will increase its revenue, and cause more new players starting to play USATT sanctioned tournament.

The TT community doesn't seem to agree with that outcome envisioned by USATT - as indicated by this poll result.  The TT community thinks that the opposite will happen in the long run.

USATT's goal is to reduce the membership fee thus to increase the membership. A great goal.

The implementation of this "new rating access subscription fee" will enable USATT to accomplish that goal as the revenue for USATT will increase and the number of new players leaping from playing leagues to playing the tournaments will increase.

That's USATT's expectation. Good luck with that. Don't think it will work out that way.

It does affect current members because I might want to look up a non current member's rating.
A masseuse practicing social distancing rubs me the wrong way.

This statement not actually correct. If you played in a tournament with in the  last year on a tournament pass you will not have access to ratings. You will have access to ratings for 12 months if you have played on a tournament pass starting January 1st of this year.
