SORRY, I CAN'T GET VIDEO TO WORK Just coming back to TT after 7 years and this technique feels more consistent than pivoting at elbow on FH Edited by BriDav12 - 07/09/2023 at 10:27pm |

I'm a bit reluctant to download that file, could you maybe upload it to YouTube and then link/ embed the video that way?

It's safe. The OP's stroke is ok, against a robot. Once playing against another player, you will face timing problems.

You should try to play more forwards, less upwards. And zeio got a good point: You won't have enough time in a match with that stroke.

What kinds of balls is the robot producing?

I like putting heavy topspin on the ball...

It's normal to lengthen out your stroke as you either get more time or are deeper in the court. The question (as everyone is pointing out) is that a longer stroke takes longer to recover. Do you have time with that stroke to hit the next ball if it comes back quickly?

The key in TT is the use of the body especially on the lower body. Although it looks like the pros are moving the hand a lot, the arm is actually not moving a lot relative to the body - it is being dragged along by the body, and there is a lot of body rotation involved. I would probably concentrate on getting all the basic lower body mechanisms correct first (weight transfer, hip rotation, along with the correct feet and knee movements). This may require a lot of rethinking about the stroke.
