JTTA has published the composition of the women's team at Qatar Open...

Interestingly, there is no Hayata Hina in the composition ....
Mima Ito is also on the team ...Will she remain in the team if China declares top players?Embarrassed
(Ahead of the world championship ....)

Is there something going on in China? So, that Chinese players won't be able to enter this Qatar Open. (Like another event is going on there and overlap the Qatar Open?)

The deadline for final entry for SINGLES is Feb 24.  And in Qatar, it is now Feb 23.
It is very likely that Chinese players will not be there for this Qatar Open.

Not often, but this has happened before ....When China applied at the last moment ....
In any case, it remains to wait quite a bit ....
If, nevertheless, China will participate in Qatar - will Ito remain?Embarrassed

Thanks to your reminder, they registered some players :))
Zhu Yuling and Chen Meng won't participante perhaps because they are seen as best chances for the next WTTC.....and on the men side, there won't be young players .
A pity because in Portugal, young players performed well.

China responded ....Smile
Although the composition (yet) not numerous .... 8 women ..
Curious - Liu Shiven and XE Zhuojia participate ....
(Will Japan withdraw Ito?)

(small offtopic ...It would be surprising if Kato Miju lost in Spain ...In Oman, can Solja Petrissa and Szocs Bernadette reach at least the semi-finals, or will it be Japan-China (Cheng-i-Ching - Chinese Taipei...And how far Hayata Hina can go ....)

Yes indeed, China entered in the last minute.
8 men and 8 women.

Ma Long will be there. Haven't seen him playing on the world stage for a long time.

You are right, Ma Long withdrew several times already.
We will soon see if he withdraws again.
He got injury, is ageing, and has not played on the world stage for quite some time.

I just checked again, he has not withdrawn yet.

Wow. You're really counting out FZD so fast. He could simply be focusing on the WTTC ... a much more important tournament.

Except FZD (world #1), from #2 to #11 will all be there.
If Ma Long doesn't withdraw, it will be quite an exciting event to watch.

Ma Long has 2250 points to defend from March of last year so it's good that he's playing the Qatar Open.  Unless he's injured, he should try to stay with the top 15 so that he doesn't have to play qualification rounds at ITTF tour events.  Otherwise, he may suffer from exhaustion and further risk of injury.  Hope he makes a great comeback.

Ma Long is still listed, and has not withdrawn yet (at this moment.)

From the video provided by zeio, a Chinese TT official, Zhang Lei said that Ma Long's injuries were very serious. Three different places suffered injuries:  knee, wrist, and lower-back?  He doesn't do any TT training, instead to concentrate to go through therapy to try to get his injuries healed.

Some forum members here are right - Ma Long may not be able to play this Qatar Open.

it's strange that ML is there instead of XX. I thought the entries were based on rankings?

ML hasn’t played for a while so he needs all the practice he can get in a month if he’s really going to play in Budapest...and there are only 2 international competitions available - Qatar open and the Asian cup, so...let’s see if he’s ready to play.
My feedback:

Ma Long has not withdrawn from Qatar Open yet. He is still listed there.
Liang Jingkun is seeded (#16).

Update:  Ma Long has not withdrawn from Asian Cup either.
He is still listed there (at this moment.)

Guys, remember that Ma Long is playing the Olympics in 2020 so he needs to get his ranking up to ease his draw.  He will definitely play World Cup and all the events he can this year.
