They needed to qualify 1st in group to ensure they won't meet China until the SF at the earliest. Winners of Group C and D get drawn to either the top or bottom half of main draw, ao there is still a 50% they will meet China in the SF.

If they qualify as 2nd in group, there is a good chance they will meet China in the QF, or SF if they're lucky, or F if they're really lucky.

Having lots of video quality issues, yesterday and today: freezes, buffering, low resolution, unable to load some recorded matches, long delays in loading all matches, etc, etc.  Is anybody in the USA experiencing similar issues?   Tried using USA and Sweeden VPN servers, no VPN, ...,nothing helps.  So, just trying to figure out if it is my ISP, or my VPN, or just the feed from ITTF??  TIA

Yes, I couldn't watch that one either. It must be broken.

I gave up on watching live except for the premier table(s) that don't have that static view from too high up and directly behind.

That is a fireable stupidity LOLLOLLOLLOL; only 1st in the group will move directly into QF; the teams placing in other positions need to play R16 / play-off.

So you are not having any video quality issues at all, in the USA?  Are you getting close to HD quality?

No, watching USA-Japan women on table 3 right now, no stuttering. I do "lock" it into high def, auto annoys me as it constantly changes resolution.

I know what you mean. But still good to see those old-timers competing against the youngsters. Although their play styles appear to be a little strange in today's game, their wisdom still shines. Waldner and Li Jiao may be the smartest TT players I have ever seen.

Just saw this at the end of an article about Men's Group C:

It is the same as in a normal round robin. You get 2pts for winning, 1 point for playing, 0 point for a "no show". The purpose is to "punish" the no show/wo. It is a good system.

Hmm, I would think that if a team fails to show up for a match (even if it's for injury reasons) then the punishment should be the end of their tournament. I get that the current system makes sense for smaller local tournaments where already qualified teams might miss a game on purpose but for a world championship...

Now Ukraine is a good team. Singapore is out on both sides now.

Hong Kong's women's team has in fact the best draw, as it offers the easiest road to a medal, in terms of team strength.
