TT community: Hey ITTF, can you fix the service rule and enforce it properly, also maybe do something about boosting, and while you are at it maybe push manufacturers to higher standards for the poly ball so there is more consistency between the brands? ITTF: Here are PINK and GREEN rubbers! YAY!! You're welcome!..... ..... that's a big NO for me btw.

If the ITTF thinks colored paddles will attract more players or fans, I'm afraid they will find that it's just another bad idea.

I'm excited for the colored rubbers. Any idea when companies will start advertising? I know Tokyo 2020 isn't for a full year, but I'm excited for some flare.

Wait until you find out that yellow plays differently than black, red or green.  Yeah it will make a difference just like there is a difference between red and black now.  I'm going from memory now, but Yasaka quit making Gold colored Tornado after the red and black rule was enforced.  They couldn't make it play the same after changing the color.

I think it's good for the sport.

My son is much more interested now that he has his favorite color on his paddle.

This will be still be more and more difficult for tt shops like TT11 for instance. I mean  regarding the management of the stocks….This will be Simply impossible to handle because there are so many different kind of rubbers (in every brands) and so many different sponge ticknesses….

If you add different colors : green, pink, yellow…..that will just be impossible or you will have to order what you want and you will get it 2 months after your order….
I seriously doubt DHS and BTY will produce green or yellow rubbers or, maybe BTY will offer a model with an unique tickness for beginners.

Rather than rubbers coming out in a wide array of colors, I think different rubbers will have signature colors.

New Rasant line will be offered in black, red, and bright green. New Bluefire line offered in black, red, and blue.

Honestly, once red in unnecessary, I could see companies ditching it altogether for some rubbers. "You want Rasant? It only comes in black or green. Deal with it."

Also, Butterfly should market at least T05 in a couple colors. It's still the most popular rubber, why not come up with a reason to increase prices $10 more per sheet? LOL

Where did you find this? Were there more colors available?

I'm in the same boat as you, my girls will want pink and purple for sure. The kid in me wants blue or green. That green looks fantastic.

Not the colors you want tho.

The rubber isn't bad. It's a little hard but not really tacky. I doubt it'll last a long time but it did feel different from the usual ESN yet plays similar.

I think for childs or rookies at the begginng.... for play at home in sundays... yes it can be funny and happy.... it can help for child to be more into a competition training or up his level after using it....for pros or any player who has some competition level.... no... it not looks professional or not looks serious in my opinion...

Tennis racquets and strings come in all different colors. In 5 years, different colored rubbers will be a complete afterthought.

Think of all the different colored paint sheets Jpen players can now through on their blank side if they choose to use black rubber.

While most casual players will get random colors according to what appeals to them I feel most pro players will choose the colors that represent their country of nationality. Just a hunch. I could be wrong.

I agree with this. I could see Chinese/Japanese/German players continue using a lot of red rubbers. Blue or yellow for Sweden. And so on.

I think sponsorships might influence choices too. They might give players an incentive for using their company's signature color.

Has anyone heard updates on when different colors will be approved for play? I know they aren't legal until after Tokyo 2020, but I'm wondering when us common folk will be able to purchase them.

===================

When the rubber manufacturers make them.
It is still a long way from August 9, 2020, when different colored rubbers become legal.
