Thats only because of their brilliant forehands, who needs a backhand with a forehand like Ma lin lol

here is another thing to think about how many players have used the rpb at world class level? maybe 10 at the most. when every single shakehand player has been able to rip backhands. the rpb has barly even been devolped to a point where there is a "correct" stroke. its just a baby let it grow!

Shakehand but previously a penholder long time ago.  Both are good styles but if you are penholder, you are restricted to be attacker.  It's hard to be a defender using penholder.  Shakehand is more allround, you can be anything.  Blocking is easier with penhold grip though, IMHO (because no crossover point).

but not many people can use shakehand backhand at world class level too, right??? lolz...

i am a shakehand player, but i respect penholders as well... it's not about penhold or shakehand, it's on how well u play, right???

Shakehand but play penhold for fun sometimes. When I play penhold, my rpb is too spinny, can't get much speed on it.

At least it is proven that a poll is not representative. I would say that shakehand could be more than 90% but the result here is entirely different.

It's the government, man. The government force people to use the shakehand grip in order to fight against the penhold Chinese commies, man. So if you keep saying there are other grips, an "accident" may happen to you or your girlfriend (if she isn't part of that), man.

there was a penhold chopper named Zhang Xie Lin way back in the days when China became dominant in table tennis for the first time if that's any consolation Tongue

Well,
Unless you mean professional, I am not asian, and I use cpen, i originally thought it looked cool when I was about 8, and then since we have played more and got a table, I have conitued using it, although my grip has changed over the years, before it has actually reached proper chinese penhold!

Also, RPB rules!
