She won the first game, but...

but she was leading in the third game 8-6... but lost in the end.

Was quite surprising to see Ruta playing quite well against Wang Yue Gu. And Feng Tianwei reaped revenge by beating Tie Yana.

Liu Shiwen almost lost to Park Mi Young in the 6th game, but made it into deuces and luckily was able to finish it off. She really messed up the second game, had such a crazy lead and lost it all in seconds.

We have 3 winners of category 2, Li Xiaoxia, Fukuhara Ai, and Liu Jia? How will they get picked?

Miao did get gold for the Intercontinental cup...sadly she was competing against rank 4, 12 and 24 for the main draw of the World Cup whereas she is ranked 102. She played well, though.

I'm very happy that Liu Shiwen won! I'm cheering for her all the way! Clap

Admittedly though, Guo Yue is good, and I think she might be technically stronger than Liu Shiwen in prolonged fast rallies.

Lui's just a little "fire-cracker" offensive player her snappy returns are usually very accurate and usually unsettles a lot of her opponents ...great matches and thanks to the ITTF for letting us see these wonderful matches!

I didn't realize she was a "wild card" entrant Clap

They just probably thought that the leader in ITTF ProTour rankings and the likely next world champion would be a good candidate for the wild card. And they were right... this time.

Even if she weren't a wildcard entrant, she would've made it in as a high WR member.

Actually no, because without the wild card there is a maximum of 2 players per association, and those spots went to Guo Yue and Li Xiaoxia.
