starts this wednesday, 7/7. here's the blurb from the ittf on the itTV schedule: "Stay tuned with us to watch the 2010 Egypt Open LIVE on the itTV channel "Main". Video On Demand are available from 12:45 GMT on July 9th 2010. LIVE Streaming starts at 14:00 GMT on July 10th 2010 with the Women's Singles quarter-finals." 12:45 GMT is 8:45 am ET and 14:00 GMT is 10 am ET. unfortunately, on the men's side, no top-20 players will show. LI CHING & teammate JIANG TIANYI will be the no. 1 & 2 seeds, respectively. on the women's side, the only top-20 player will be HIRANO SAYAKA of japan. the 2nd seed will be ELIZABETA SAMARA of romania. |

that's true, when you talk about a player that can be a hope for europe it must be a newcomer or young player not somebody who has been trying unsuccesfully for a decade to win and dont tell me about flaky world cup winners ,do you think that a pro is looking for a world cup tittle.
and everytime boll loses i m sick or reading.." timo back's is hurting again.." i put my hopes on apolonia that is making good matches in the bundesliga.

Achanta just had a heck of a match, it's been cool to see how much he has improved over the last couple of years

This was a pretty good tournament. Adrien Mattenet lost his composure against Jiang in the 4th set, I think he was up 9-3 and ended up losing that set 10-12 and hence was down three sets to one. I love his style and think he will eventually be a top 20 player if he continues to work hard. Kamal Achanta has tremendous power and has definitely stepped it up within the past couple of years. U.S. Open champion and Egypt Open champion, not a bad paycheck for 2 weeks work. I also gotta give a shout out to the Egyptian number 1, El Sayed Lashin, he made it to the semi-finals in a pro tour, yeah, the field was rather weak, but, it was a pro tour nontheless. ------------- who no know go know |

actually, just over the last year... so, it's really shocking how fast he's improved!! he went thru 2 top-50 players to win the final and he beat them rather easily. but, on the other hand, in the quarters, he just barely squeaked past lowly ABDEL-KADER SALIFOU of france who's not even in the top-150 in the world!! y'know, i wouldn't mind seeing that match. does anybody have that one by chance?? as for the us open, it should come as no surprise that he won it, given that he was the top seed. and it wasn't surprising that his final match against keini was so close, cuz keini is just 2 spots below him on the ittf rankings, so they're practically even. anyhow, this should be a big shot in the arm for him and indian tt. and he's gonna get a lot of points--probably enough to put him into the top-50 for the 1st time... |

Congrats to Achanta Sharath Kamal for winning the Egypt Open! And the U.S. Open the previous week! He is really stepping up his game...Bad luck for the Hong Kong players, maybe they'll do better with more international experience? I rarely see them (only at the big ones like OG, WTTC or the Chinese Super League) anymore on the ProTour... ------------- Viscaria T05/T64 |
